    Hello.

I read on the classic forum that one of our very knowledgable posters scored the 9th round for Erik Morales in his first epic fight with Barrera. I can see room for argument, but after watching this round, how did you score the round. Don't be shy.

morales. he had control more of the round. Barrera got great combo in beginning and the end but it was too little to take it.

Morales. he was boxing in this round so his backwards movement made Barrera's punches look better especially since a lot of them were against the ropes, however he landed clean hard shots in the middle of the ring a lot of them through Barrera's defense. I could definatly see an argument for scoring it for Barrera though.

Definitely Morales. Barrera landed a nice flurry late in the first minute, and obviously had a very effective flurry at the end of the round, but thats about it. Morales controlled (dominated at times) from 1:00-2:50.

I gave the round too Barrera.

Barrera landed two combinations at the beginning of the round that seemed to hurt Morales. The first one had him back pedaling furiously.

Morales apparently dominated the rest, but MAB was catching a lot of those shots. He also got a clean left hook in as well a big straight right.

Not to mention the flush three punch combination that landed and hurt Morales again at the end.

MAB round but room for argument.

  8. I felt that Morales had moments, but the better, more meaningful work was being done by Barerra...

Barrera. Even though Morales cut Barrera and landed more, Barrera's shots were heavier. I would have given it to Morales had Barrera not caught Morales and hurt him badly @ the end. When I a judge a round if one fighter hurts the other the way Barrera did, that gets a lot of consideration as to who wins that round.

Both had their moments but that was a Barerra round.

I was ready to give it Morales because he dominated for some 2 minutes with accurate combinations and movement, but that first minute along with that last 3 punch combo by barrera make it super close. Barrera for me. And Morales is better.

Barrera - He seemed to do more damage and landed the harder more effective punches.... so close though, hard to argue with anyone who gives it to Morales
