Calzaghe is at the top of his game in terms of skill, intangibles, and ring smarts, the only difference between the Joe of a couple of years ago is his slightly deteriorated physical ability, which really hasn't even fallen off that badly, as you can clearly see from this fight. Jones is well below his prime self in every category on the other hand, and has been for a long time.
In many ways I think you are right on, but I don't think you can discount the fact that because of his brittle hands, he cannot punch with impunity anymore. I am somehwere in the middle in all this. I think in there primes Jones and B-Hop would have beaten him, but I don't think that these fights are meaningless either.
Come on Lacy is TERRIBLE, calzaghe's only quality win is Hopkins. Calzaghe has built his career on beating nobodies and hasbeens. PRIME Roy Jones TKO6 Calzaghe.
Jones well past his prime, Calzaghe is just a few years past his, both Jones and Hopkins were able to floor Calzaghe easily in the 1st round, it makes me wonder what these guy would of down to him in their respective primes? I see Calzaghe getting knocked out.
JC is far from his prime. His style beats any version of RJJ. The combination of the pressure and iron chin is too much for RJJ...any version.
:rofl Yeah, I'm real serious about that. No, honestly, it's really true that nobody has ever been in more danger as a jury member than I was in New Zealand. Ever. So you want to watch it for free. It is very annoying when 3 or 4 out of every posts in a round by round are people going "link! link! send me a link!!" Especially when the mods are taking a huge stand about stamping that out. In conclusion, you are annoying, and now I am done with you, though you will remain annoying I am sure. :hat
You really think that fighters both in their prime were fighting and Calzaghe would stick his chin out like that would win? He would get KTFO
I said before the fight that Jones was so far gone that he wouldn't even be competitive. The fact that his skillset and mental strength has allowed him to be speaks volumes about how a prime matchup would go.
