I have been saying that Thompson was the hidden threat for a while now.

Hey Zak, since we argued this one. Will you at least give Thompson ENOUGH credit as "fringe contender"?

He's beaten 3 guys clearly who you've picked against him, 3 has beens yes, but 3 guys. I told you Krasniqi was roasted, as is Gatti, whom will lose tonight to a subpar fighter like he did vs. Baldomir.

Thompson deserves respect as a guy who comes to fight.:good

Thompson is one of those guys who does not do anything spectacular but is a big 6"5 Southpaw and has a good Jab,decent fighter, I guess we got a contender for Vlad next time up, with this win and Brewsters loss Tony is in the top 10

Amsterdam we are in the same boat on this one. I picked Thompson it is on the Euro forum somewhere, and I am picking Gomez. Done is done, and once you are you cannot turn back the clock (unless your name is Evan Fields).

Yeah, Thompson isn't a bad fighter. Not always exciting but he does have some abilitly. He's a rangy southpaw who uses those attributes in the ring. He'd be a tough night for a lot of fighters.

I don't know where exactly to rank Thompson but he's in the Top13 or maybe even #10.

Quite a roll Thompson is on. I thought Krasniqi could be very rusty and possibly not the same after the Krasniqi fight, but I still didn't quite think an early stoppage. Good for Thompson.

Too bad for Luan, this is probably the end of the road for him. I hope his (now hopeless) goal of title contention does not end up with him getting hurt.

Perhaps Evander will consider him as an opponent now.

    :yep

I could also imagine Luan wanting a rematch with Brewster for a "loser retires" type of match....

Seriously though, Thompson has recently increased the quality of his opposition with nothing but good results. His only loss was 7 years ago. His chin hasn't really been tested, but seems to have held up this far.

Physically, he looks promising, 6'5" with good reach and a southpaw.

His physical age may be old, but I don't think he appears "old" as a fighter. 35 isn't old for a heavyweight in today's landscape!

Perhaps 1 more fight against better opposition and he's ready for a shot. Probably should try to fight a puncher to test his chin.

Yeah, he's beaten these guys, and he deserves a fringe contender rating. Frankly, however, I think it has more to do with his opponents' flaws than him being that good. Guinn is a "never was" who had already been exposed, Timo was just not as good as many of us thought, period; and Krasniqi was every bit as washed up as you said he was.

I plead guilty of over-estimating Thompson's opponents. I remain unconvinced that he himself is all that good.:hey
