Rocky in a Round-Robin with Pinklon Thomas ,Tony Tucker and Tony Tubbs .Is this a easy tournament for Marciano or could a 80s guy come out on top ? All matches are set at 12 round s .What's the end result?
Rocky is hard for me to rate because he was such a small HW. If he fought during the 3T's IMO he be at CW. Rocky would beat every CW, but those 3 Ts...could mug, hug & clinch out a decision. Tucker near 6'5 was skilled (enuff) to keep his distance if he didn't like Marci's power. with 82 inch reach vs 68inch reach for Rocky. Pinklon & Tubbs at 6'3 didn't have great reach, around 7inch greater?? but they could use those legs to extend distance. Tucker I think had power to hurt Rocky, but he'd ride it out by getting inside...only for the ref to stay way too busy breaking clinches. He loses all 3 by ugly decisions.
Rocky is the greater fighter but we are taking a lot on trust here. I think Tucker could win and the other two have chances to outbox him, especially over 12 rds.
Yup, Rocky is easily greater for his size & power. But skills IMO may not matter if one can use size, height & reach to their advantage. I think Marciano is a way better boxer than Tyson Fury, but if Fury uses his reach and height right. He can stink it out. I think the same of the 3 T's. At some point for HW's size does matter.
