Round Robin of the following British heavyweights -

Prime versions of Henry Cooper,Joe Bugner and Frank Bruno. So many variables but I could envisage a scissors,paper,rock scenario here.

Cooper v Bugner - Henry outworks Joe in a competitive battle. A better bout than their 1971 match up. His hooks and speed keep his opponent at bay a lot of the time. Cooper by close UD.

Bruno v Cooper - Frank coming forward roughs the lighter Cooper up and stops him within five rounds. Henry is the more explosive but comes undone by Bruno's power.

Bugner v Bruno - Joe can take this if he uses the right game plan. Unlike Cooper,Frank is n't faster than Bugner. Joe needs to bide his time and box cautiously while letting Bruno expend a lot of energy in the early rounds when he's always dangerous. He needs to counterpunch and move and wear his man down.. After Bruno inevitably starts to drastically tire,Bugner should step up the action and catch Frank more and more with combinations. Bugner by late rounds stoppage.

 

Bugner was in terrible shape for that Bruno fight. He'd had a couple of months living the good life after the Greg Page bout in the July of that year and the Bruno match up was rushed. Joe could have done with at least another four weeks training. I'm not saying that he would have won at that point in his career but he may have lasted a few rounds longer. Maybe even have gone the distance.

 

The Bugner-Bruno bout would have been the most interesting,Fergy. Joe would have been more than capable of prevailing if he did what he was capable of.
