Couldn't find the whole fight...but the ko comes in the last round...15. Perhaps this is Duran at his scariest and most imdominable...against a very game Leonicio Ortiz.
Duran's stamina in this fight is just amazing....I remember him fighting at a frenetic pace right up until the sudden, inevitable ending in round 15. The Duran of this fight reminds me in no small part of Dempsey...fast, panther-like and utterly relentless...with that killer instinct prevailing all the way.

Yes. Ray was lucky to leave Panama alive. He was badly hurt..I think he went to the hospital and came back in a wheelchair.

    Great Vid RC!
Right on with your Duran assessment! Just a beautiful fighter to watch. Hes got the Fitzsimmons shift going along with stepping over to create beautiful angles. I honestly think alot of people forget how incredible he preformed at this weight.

Thanks bud,...and btw, this is the fight, believe it or not...that convinces me that Duran was the GOAT at 135. That means he beats Whitaker, Williams, Mayweather, Chavez, ....the two toughest would be Laguna and Ortiz. The former he would subject the Buchanan treatment to...he'd be all over him...and Ortiz would be a 15 round challenge...but only if Carlos was at his best. Again, it was Duran's incredible stamina, work rate and ferocity...his relentlessness, that impressed me....and sure enough, he got his man in that last round all right!

Yes...another reason to remember that the lightweight Duran was the 135 GOAT. Poor ol' Lampkin.

I remember my late boxing bud and I saying: "No guy with a frigging beard should be allowed to fight! :) Let your whiskers grow for several days OK...but, as I remember, we were wanting to see Roberto take this guy out much earlier than this.

The real championship rounds here, not the 12 pansy stuff .. Would have been great to see Duran and Hank leaning on each other, .. crazy infighting

He sure was...tbh, I was rooting for him to make it to the distance....but the heat seeking missile that was Duran would have none of that.
