he changed his style so he could take benefit from his strengths. He has lost his speed of foot and a bit of his reflexes but I think he still has the fastest hands at super middle and light heavyweight. If he started to use his for the moment non-existing jab he would not get stuck on ropes as much as he is today. He have to be more active to keep his opponents at bay. Also, given his age he cannot always rely on his reflexes to avoid punches. He should hold his hands higher, blocking more shots combined with dodging and weaving. Ali is a great example of a boxer who did this. Of course, Jones is no Ali who had an outstanding will to win, an ironchin and a was a brilliant tactical fighter. The whole thing about Roy having a glass-jaw is not true though he have been hit flush the times he got knocked out because of his slower reflexes. If he tried this I really think he could have 2-3 years left being competitive at the highest level.
On the contrary, Roys jaw is pure porcelin. He gets hit and drops out cold, convulsing and quivering. Not even Wlad goes out like that.Denial is more than a river in Egypt.Roy is totally shot.
The way he keeps getting pinned on the ropes and hit cleanly by lower ranked guys lets me know that he doesn't have the ability anymore to outslick the top guys like a Hopkins or a Calzaghe.
That's not true, if that was the case he would've got KO'd in the Ruiz fight as Ruiz hit him with his fair share of right hands (the same ones that rocked rahman, KO'd frez, KD Holyfield, and knocked down Kirk Johnson), tarver would've KO'd him in their first fight (where tarver hit Roy with everything in the book in the rounds he won), Clinton Woods when he was getting work done on Roy with those rights would've put Roy out. When Roy was knocked down when he came up to lightheavy by Lou he would've never got back up and would've had zero legs if he did, but that didn't happen. The punch by Lou was more devestating then Tarvers or Johnsons and caught him flush with his head completely turned. Your comments are pure bs and note worthy of Roy hating troll.
loads of fighters have had weak chins...why it isnt as much of a disadvantage as people think. the shots that koed him were horrible deadning shots and the right hook tarver landed in the III match was brutal and came from out of nowhere. i think he could win back a title if he just uses the skills he had at middlewieght. he used to have a great jab and more of an orthodox approachj but at light heavy he was in his prime and could do anything. so he didnt use it...but now it's bit back and he isnt gonna be top dog...but he is a damn quick fighter for his age and power is very good experience is off the charts compared tot he other light heavies...i give him a good chance of regaining his title
