bull****.... hopkins is over here staying inactive, chasing fights he knows wont get signed....and dont forget, getting a lot older plus, roy already beat him, so if bhop really wants to avenge the only loss he has (as he states), then bhop better man up and sign !!!
No matter what options Hopkins has no fight is bigger than the Jones rematch ..I doubt eiether Dawson or Ademek are PPV worthy hell the Calzaghe wasn't yet these would ?? No fight is bigger for Bhops than the Jones fight ..
Please, Hopkins doesn't need Roy. He's trying to be nice by giving this clown a chance. Now Roy can take advantage of Nard's kindness, or he can continue playing dressup in order to promote fights that no one gives a **** about.
I side with Hopkins on this one. Given his current status, he's the one that makes this fight what it is. This is a business. It only makes sense for Hopkins to try to secure as much as possible up front. Maybe he should get 55/45 but Hopkins deserves more money. RJ is coming from a more desparate, winner take all or nothing perspective. That's why he's offering 60% for the winner. Heck, at the end of the interview, he said "winner take all" and that's when B-Hop hung up the phone. :rofl Back in 2002 or so, i think RJ was the bigger star. But now, it's Hopkins.
You're from philly obviously your gonna respect and take up for your boy. Yea right now I think Jones needs Hopkins more than Hopkins needs Roy....Well to be honest they don't really need each other anyways. But people will always remember his real loss to Jones.....all the other losses could be debated except for the Jones loss. So in way i know Hopkins really wants this fight...deep down i really don't see it happening, I hope it does tho. Two of the best boxers ever and if the fans really want it, it just might happen. I'll tell u this it won't be boring like the first fight it'll be ****en entertaining that's for sure.
Some perspective, please. Neither of these guys need each other. They're both secure in their legacies and both obviously picking and choosing whatever fights they want.
Even though you're right but I wouldn't hint that Hopkins is scared or any of that. The man has been chasing young guns like Pavlik, Adamek, Dawson and also fought Calzaghe(after his MAJOR win over Kessler) yet he's scared from an obviously shot Jones?, don't think so. This rematch will happen next year, don't know why but I feel it will.
Not sure that lowballing someone who would be perfectly willing to fight you can be counted as chasing tbf. Not sure what Hopkins has done to chase Dawson either.
What do you mean by that word bigger star? Cause in terms of drawing power that sells tickets, Jones wins it easy. Hopkins still can't draw flies unless a big name like a De la hoya or Trinidad helping him out. Now when Jones was in his prime and was the man, he was the drawing power that sells tickets and has a very good ppv buy rate ( his fight vs Ruiz did 602k) Right now on ppv buys, both can't draw. But Jones can still sell tickets vs fighters he's suppost to beat while Hopkins can't. Also even though it's 93, Jones is the still the man that clearly beat Hopkins. And right now Hopkins don't have a belt to make a case for 60 or 55 percent in his favor. 60 percent to the winner makes the most sense for both fighters.
How does it sound desperate if he offers the fairest deal possible ? And lets not forget Jones stated he not chasing him but Hopkins was the last one to call him out ..Their egos could have a fight on their undercard thats how big they are !
