As in someone who is an "elite" fighter that can generate a good PPV buy if you match him up with the right opponent.
Beleive me when I tell you fear has nothing to do with this rematch on either part its more ego ..Where did I indicate that he was afraid of Jones ? Its stubborness that has preveneted this rematch nothing more .
Hopkins and ppv buys don't belong in the same sentence. Hopkins is a terrible ppv drawer point blank. The right opponent? Do you mean like say the fighters that has the same drawing power like Trinidad or De la hoya?
This is the only thing I disagree with. Bernard deserves 60/ 40 at least for the fact that he has consistently been crushing or closely fighting elite competition during the years when Roy was getting sparked. H2H I still think Roy poses Bernard some serious problems, but on paper, one of these guys deserves the bigger payday, and it's not Roy. We all know historical legacy matters to Bernard. Does he really accomplish more by stinking out the joint against Adamek in a weight class he doesn't belong in, or by stopping the only man to clearly beat him, even a faded version? AND he'd get his 60% if he agreed to the "winner takes all".
So you don't think this fight would do well on PPV if they fought? Tell me, if RJ fought another bum, how would those PPV numbers do when compared to what it would do if he fought B-Hop?
I don't think a fighter (Hopkins) deserves 60 percent of the purse if he can't draw flies at all regardless if he has beaten elite fighters lately. This is business but Hopkins of course thinks he's the drawing power.
Exactly...I swear this is on point...Roy ONLY loses to aggressive fighters with high work rates right now.
Nope. I think right now this fight will do around 320k. I said this already that right now on ppv buys, Jones and Hopkins can't draw but on ticket sells Jones still wins it easy even vs a fighter he's suppost to beat.
It's also the business of "what have you done lately". Roy has been a) getting his ass kicked b) been in rebuilding mode and now finally c) has one strong performance that has generated some interest in him again. That doesn't say 50/ 50 to me, unless you heavily factor in their first fight.
But not at Middleweight. Plus there are rumors (whether you believe them or not) about Pavlik being sick that night.
