The only guy i can think of that had close to this kind of success in his glory past 40 is big george foreman. But i would say Bernards bin much more successful.

That's false. Roy was still seen as p4p#1 until he lost to Tarver. There was like a 3 year window in that time from when Hopkins schooled Trinidad and was himself put up there in the p4p standings. They deliberated constantly about making the fight in that time, but Hopkins insisted on 50-50 and that was it. It was his fault, as he was the one that needed the fight for his legacy.

If you saw how Hopkins turned around from the Calzaghe loss to school a young lion in Pavlik, he did struggle against Calzaghe. He virtually chose not to fight, using mostly spoiling tactics, conceding that he couldn't beat Joe in a fair fight. Same with Taylor, he should have whooped Taylor, but just couldn't deal with his speed and lost on workrate.

How old was Hopkins again? lol. Man you haven't read the thread because my posts earlier in this thread debunk all of the hype you are posting bro.

Again u Roytards completely ignore hopkins age. His stamina wasnt top notch for the calzaghe fight and he was 43 so he had to adjust things and he came in prepared against a more dangerous pavlick and he went to school on him for 12 rounds.

Wait, you mean he brought an even stronger focus into the Pavlik fight when it pertains to his cardio training? Well who did Pavlik beat again? JT. What did Hopkins talk about? How he had to train twice as hard to have the same level of cardio he did when he was younger which he did heading into the Pavlik fight.

Roy was the up and coming star there. The point is he beat Hopkins, so Hopkins was the one who needed the rematch and had something to prove and so should have made the concessions. 50-50 to 60-40, in those circumstances, for a guy who wasn't a big draw, he had no excuse for not taking it.

I dont think u recognize the discipline and the significance to fighting past 40 Bernard had reigned the division for 10 years and in my opinion Hbo were tired of this oldman schoolin the youngsters in the middleweight division and they robbed him in the first taylor bout u saw what happend to taylor after those fights he was never the same hopkins then took on the man who knocked him out in kelly pavlik and he beat the brakes off of him.

Don't give me the politics with boxing, Roy rejected the fight, period. I don't care why.

Its all leverage that fight was 8 years ago if they fought right after that fight then yes roy gets the 60 percent split thats how it works but that isnt what happend doopy the dwarf. Roy ranup to another weightclass and Bernard reigned the division and he toppled pound for pound lists when he beat undefeated tito trinidad who was HUGE at the time so to say he didnt deserve a 50 percent split is pure bias garbage.

He should be able to recognize it because Roy sure as hell can't show us that same dedication. Roy's own dad and him had a separation because his dad felt he needed to train harder (plus other issues). Just like Tyson, Roy doesn't put the proper work in the gym any more. That was also evident on the 24/7 before the Calzaghe massacre.

Excuses. His stamina wasn't good for Cal, but was good for Pavlik? Like I said, it was Cal's combination of speed and athleticism he couldn't live with, as was the case back in 93 against Jones.
