The site that talks boxing and regularly hold interviews with Roy Jones stated:
Jones to fight at heavyweight before end of year? "8 out of 10 chance!"

Jones is a former heavyweight champion so him going to hw again is definitely a possibility.

Now comes the question: despite the outcome of win or lose, who of the ranked hw boxers can roy jones give a competitive fight? What are his realistic options in this division?

    - I can see Roy giving a good fight against James Toney (probably even winning it).

    - He can fight John Ruiz again (and probably winning that one too).

    - He can fight old Holyfield. The fight was almost made after the Ruiz fight. I see Roy winning this one.

    - Valuev? If an old Holyfield can give him a competitive fight and in some eyes even win against Valuev....why not Roy Jones?

    -...

do you seriously think he is going to try and fight a legit heavyweight with power? If he does go back up to Heavyweight it will be another handpicked opponent along the lines of John Ruiz. It will be someone with a miserable KO ratio and little skill. Jones would get his Glass Jaw shattered by any top 10 Heavyweight.

I do agree that he could beat Ruiz again. I do not think he would beat James Toney at Heavyweight though.

We all know Roy Jones so ofcourse not. Therefore the question: what are his realistic options at hw? What are the names that he would pick?

Holyfield would be his best shot, and a few masochists living in the 90's might even buy it.

If he's that sure of it, he's probably already talked to Holyfield and is keeping him as a backup plan. Lord knows Holyfield needs the money.

I'd give Jones a good chance against Chambers.
(Roy's best bet would be Eddie winning a title, Then 100% expect Jones to jump)

I think he's got a good shot at the opponents you mentioned.

And on Roy fighting still - let him be, the man likes to fight its his life and he's sure making alotta of money out of it! Mad respect to RJJ

Aside from, from the Klits, I think he'd have a shot against all of them, and after watching Vitali and JCG, I think he could even have a slight shot against Vitali, so I think he may be able to do something at HW as long as he doesn't fight Wlad or Haye. Yes the division is that bad.

He would beat every HW except the Klitschko's, Haye, and possible Povetkin and Dimitrenko. Everyone else he out classes including Chambers and Peter.
