Boring perhaps, but not any less true. The man slaps, live with it. I would love to have seen him fight James Toney at 168, an accurate counterpuncher rips him apart with his wide open slapping flurries.
Okay but in future if you insist on continuing a boring, overdone topic can you add a bit of hypothesis to your posts to make them a little more interesting? Thanks.
I agree it isn't that bad yet, but it might get there. He definitely slurred a little on a FNF show a few months ago. Maybe he just got a case of the nerves or something, but obviously that's something you take seriously. He did sound OK during a recent press conference, I thought.
Here's a nice Roy Jones montage I found for anyone who might have forgotten how good he was. http://youtube.com/watch?v=oMealbLNY_E
True but at 39, most fighter's are not what they once were! Roy still has enough in the tank to stop Trinidad:hey
I think a lot of so-called experts throw the word "shot" around and it's f*ckin stupid, it just makes you sound stupid. In reality Roy and Joe would be a good fight, I'd take Roy...
I'm not someone who usually critiques a fighter's speech, I think it's sort of disrespectul, but I really noticed that Roy didn't seem as mentally or verbally sharp on FNF, not to the extent that he used to 10 years ago on the HBO telecasts when he did excellent commentary. He never took a lot of punishment in fights, but like the poster above says, there have been a couple of concussive knockouts recently and a lot more absorbed punches. And for what? His legacy and back accounts should be secure.
Roy Jones being able to make weight is a concern , he hasn't been at 170 for a long long time. We have all seen supposedly professional boxers not make weight for big money fights in the last few years. Still Roy has always made weight to my knowledge and hopefully he won't drain himself and expect a quick knockout over a bloated Tito who is just showing up for a payday. I would have liked Roy to retire years ago after beating Ruiz but boxing is all he has ever known and he makes huge amounts of money win or lose so it is not easy to walk away from. His speech has been affected after two serious knockouts especially the last one which was severe. Looks like Roy Jones is turning into another Evander Holyfield , not knowing when to quit. No one is immune to father time.
Lets just see how he looks when he fights Tito before we talk about him fighting B-Hop or Calzaghe. I still think he will KO Tito :yep
As long as others say ridiculous things, like fighters being seriously hurt by fight Calzaghe of all people, I'll keep pointing out the obvious. Your welcome.
