Well, at least "the man" is giving a brotha another shot. With that said, they chose the wrong *****. China chin Roy is just flat out annoying to listen to and I often get the feeling he is just an over zealous fan that really has no idea what he is truly speaking of. Sure, he boxed but that don't mean he know how to commentate. His southern jargon and failure to do any homework coming into a gig is downright disgraceful. Lewis was as exciting to listen to as watching paint dry, but at least he knows what he is talking about. Roy is strictly straight out of his mind and goes on rambling and mumbling as if he has marbles in his mouth. He must think that fighting all those sanitation workers, plumbers, and cops makes him some sort of expert on other fighter's fights. The bottom line is that HBO seriously needs to reexamine their whole lineup and clean house. Starting with Merchant AND Kellerman who are both horrible, biased, unprofessional commentators to listen to. HBO needs to drop them both and run with someone like Hopkins, Ellerbe, Winky, Tarver, James Brown. Choose anyone of those guys and HBO will be in good hands. If I was HBO I would automatically drop Stewart just for the simple fact that he honestly thinks he can resurrect Cottoe from the dead. Tarver, has proved that he is an pleasant and knowledgeable commentator and belongs on the big stage. Roy, Merchant, Lampley AND Kellerman MUST GO! P.S. Of course, when Money's prize fighting days are over he will be the perfect commentator/analyst that the sport is so desperately needing.
Roy is always talking about himself and that's why people were turned off by him. That aside he is pretty good.
co-sign finally an expert opinion and one who can pull rank on likes of Lampley !!!:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy
