He had an extensive career in the amateur boxing never getting knocked out .
He sparred 1000 of rounds and you never heard of anyone knocking him out .
He started as a jr.middle and didnt get stopped until he had moved up to LIGHTHEAVY and he was in his THIRTIES.
Everyone knows the older you get the less punishment you can take.
Think CAMACHO would have stopped a YOUNG LEONARD?
All this BS about Jones being so fast and nobody hitting him flush is just that-BS .
Toney hit him as did Hopkins and he didnt flop on the floor.
Its when you age you lose the ability to take a punch and your legs arent as strong as they once were .
Jones didnt get stopped till what he was in his thirties/forties and now he has a questionabe chin????

I tend to agree with you but it would be helpful if people could identify some specific fights & rounds where Roy ate some hard flush punches and was unfazed.

Stupidest argument ever.. He was not stopped before because barelly anybody did touch his face in his prime because his speed and reflexes but his chin was poor, the excuse of the age is a joke, old foreman had the best chin ever

And who else was able to improve thier ability to take puinshment by getting older?
Hopkins hit Jones flush as did Toney.
he didnt go through bouts not getting hit.
Let me ask you: you think a prime Holyfield gets stopped by a James Toney?
If youve never boxed dont know .
Your body over time doesnt react to punches like it once did.
Your gonna sit here and tell me Jones never got hit with a flush punch for TEN YEARS???????? Toney or Hopkins never hit him ONCE flush in TWELVE ROUNDS????

Evander getting stopped by toney had nothing to do with his chin. There are tons of factors like stamina or mind

Moving back down to 175 from 200lbs certainly didn't help Roy either.

AGE and puinshment taken prior were factors in Toney stopping Holy.

I don't think he had a great chin, I think he was so fast and offensive with his hand speed that he was not caught clean. Slowing down a little expose his chin. That shows us how slowing down just a little can make a big difference.

Yes Mickey, that's true. But if that were the cause he would have gotten ktfo 10 years earlier.

Age is the number one factor.
Lamotta had a GREAT chin.....but a Lamotta in his FIFTIES wouldnt be able to take the same shot.
i remember a boxer i knew very well decided to make a comeback at age 37.
He had a great chin when he was younger and had never been down and had not taken alot of puinshment in his career.
He trains for about a month a spars oneday against a young boxer who isnt all that .
Everytime he got hit he seem to get hurt or shook. After the sparring i remember him saying it seemed every punch hurt and he just couldnt take the shots anymore.
And he wasnt in with a puncher by any means.

Agreed. The chin was never great .. look at how DeValle dropped him .. it was a combo of the drop back down taking its toll, age, Tarver , Johnson and the chin .. remember he didn't just get dropped he got flattened multiple times like John Tate style flattened ..

He took plenty of shots in tarver 1.
He started slowing down and getting hit in 2000/2001 and didn't get KO until 2004.
Ruiz hit him with clean hard punches, not alot but a decent amount.
People don't notice the fact that he does get hit as long as he's dominant because his offense was so dazzling when he opened up but even toney hit him more than a few times. I've posted videos with timestamps where he got hit clean and hard in his prime for everyone to see.

yet I give him credit after the Glen Johnson fight to actually come back and start to win again. He looked almost washed up there, and I think the previous fight shocked him, but he came back and had some good wins just on heart with his old skills.
