Your going back quite a long way to the G Kelly fight, Ive not heard anyone say that his foot speed diminished a bit after the Kelly fight.
Still after Jones came down from HW he still mananged to beat Tarver who alot proclaimed as the best LHW at the time. It does seem that alot of people hate giving Calzaghe credit.
Im convinced Calzaghe would always have beaten Hopkins
Montell, Calzaghe would easily have beaten, he was a small LHW with no power who struggled to take a good shot, and Calzaghe would have easily caught him and beat him.
Toney - That fight would never have happend. Toney was a CW before Calzaghe even won his first SMW title and Toney was at HW around the time Joe was beating B Mitchell, but if you look at Toneys SMW resume it isnt great and Toney lost to Griffin at LHW, I have no doubt Joe would have outpointed Toney.
R Johnson, No way would Calzaghe have lost to him. You must feel then that prime Johnson at LHW was better than Hopkins when Ring LHW champ. Im surprised.

I know you cant judge fights on if a fighter beats someone who was beat by someone else etc, but it does often give a form line. But if you look at the names you mention, Hopkins, Toney, Griffin, Johnson and Jones they all come back to Calzaghe

I was talking about a Prime Calzaghe being a bigger harder puncher than Griffin, but still look at Griffins fights leading up to Jones and then look at the older Calzaghe against Jones and you tell me who hits harder dumbass, and yes I think Calzaghe is stronger as well. Joe hits hard enough to keep Jones and Hopkins from coming forward :D.

Except it Roy ducked the tough European scene.
The SMW division is a much tougher division in Europe which Roy wanted to avoid, Eubank, Benn even the older more improved Collins and later Calzaghe or Michalczewski at LHW.

Jones and Calzaghe should have fought around 2000 - 2002. It would have been a special fight. I'd take Jones in 2000 - 2001 but I think Calzaghe might have had the edge from 2002 onwards.

The reason I say that is that Jones had obviously declined by 2002. Clinton Woods was able to mark him up.

yes though jones beat tarver after returning to lhw he lost something there when i first seen him in the ring the first thing i notice was the shape of his body and he didnt look the same then when they started to fight i was like what the hell is his problem he looked slow and his legs were not the same he did not move the same and it was the first time i ever seen him tired like that as far as joe vs jones i dont see joe no were near a threat to jones at his best joe is a real good fighter but jones was special

I do agree that in Jones first 2-3 fights down from HW he didnt look right, but did look more on form for the 3rd Tarver fight.
I remember someone once commenting that after Jones had been found to cheat and exposed, they said his form dipped from there onwards, that I cant say whether I agree or not.
But remember for however shot Jones alledgedly was he was entering as favourite to all his LHW fights except for Tarver 3 (then top LHW Ring champ) and Calzaghe (then top LHW Ring champ) which dosent really indicate a shot fighter.
    We can agree to disagree
