does roy hit as hard as jackson and g-man. he had about 12 fights at 168lbs and 2 went the 12. how does his power rate to these guys.
At 168, Jones probably hit just as hard as Jackson, whose power was greatest at 154. But McClellan and Benn hit harder than Jones, though not a significant amount.
speed obviously was a big factor in jones's power i dont think he had one punch ko power like g man but he definitely was throwin some leather
Julian Jackson is a 154 fighter, that is what he is known for. I would say that Roy has equal power to Julian and Gerald. They all could hit.
But Julian was the best traditional boxer in my opinion. Roy Jones was the better of the three, and the most athletic. And Gerald had the best jab. He had a stalking way of getting to his guy. Very calm fighter.

You are missing the fights where Jones was testing the waters at SMW and fighting over 160. He had 12 total fights between at SMW.
McClellan had heavier hands and, shot for shot, was the bigger puncher. Jones has excellent power as well, and he also benefited from hitting guys from angles they didn't see coming. G-Man dropped dudes when they were prepared to be hit, and you know a guy has serious power when he does that. Where you been hiding, kg?
Taking the semester off, with one more left to finish my Masters. Keeps me off the computer as much. However, when I am on, I can give full attention to the posts I make, unlike I have been for the last 6 months or so, getting baited into back and forths and such (frustration with my dissertation coming through here). I agree with your assessment BTW.
We have to bear in mind that McClellan always looked for the KO whereas Jones forced the issue less and had a "if it happens it happens" mentality and was perfectly happy with a UD. Probably in McClellan's mind he wouldn't feel it was a good victory unless his opponent was out cold. A true killer mentality compared with Jones who was always more of a sportsman. A similar example can be seen in the Klitschko brothers. Vitali likes to knock all his opponents out compared with Wlad who just likes winning and being a great competitor and won't go out of his way to kill someone in the ring.
