absolute poppycock, when a troll poster starts a joke thread like this, it is an absolute insult to the likes of ali, robinson, armstrong, duran, leonard etc. how the **** can a fighter who folds in adversity, has no plan B, and poor punch resistance like roy jones ever stand a chance head to head against that level of fighter? :patsch

if your talking about head to head p4p the greatest then these mythical match ups are bound to be close, intense fights, so how the **** can a fighter with the attributes i mentioned above stand a chance against the real greats of the game? the only thing roy jones has an advantage in is athleticism and being a proven steroid user leaves a huge question mark over that for any logical boxing historian :deal

the ironic thing about the post of yours i quoted above is that it perfectly describes yourself and ymca with your cringe-worth fanboy worship of your idol :yep

there is a reason why members of the team elite corporation and the chincheckers recieve more profile views and have their posts read more than anybody else on esb and that reason is because we keep it real, we cut through the delusional, narrow minded, circle jerk of fanboys like yourself and give a cutting insight into the reality of the discussion, much to the annoyance of you blinded fanboys :hi:

whilever esb is drenched in fanboy ignorance, then the likes of the team elite corporation and the chincheckers will be here to educate the masses with delicious, mouth-watering facts to perfectly counter your bias, tinted glassed bull**** :thumbsup

Right Head says the guys who never has an agenda yet you want to point out ignorance ! The man was popped once with a banned subsbatnce his opponent had double what he had ! What is your point really when PED's can't help you box ? But what do we expect from someone who takes the word of a greasy promoter in Frank ****** as Gospel yet you want to call people fans boys :lol: Thats rich brotha !

So what you don't agree that Jones was as good as people say he is there are plenty who disagree with you be it fans and boxing historians alike ..

Team repeat ,and the **** checkers are the true ignorance to these boards and boxing ! But its nothing new it just falls in line with every disrespectful coward who's never done anything in their lives so they act like critics to insult world class athletes behind a ****ing keyboard ..There is no bigger bull**** than the crap all you spit out :hi::good

For some peoples the terms shot and glassjaw are technical :patsch

For my part RJJ was at one point a superb athlete whos had the weight of the sports on his shoulders (post Tyson) and he did a great job to keep the sport alive. I can't ay he was the best fighter to ever lace a pair of gloce but he was dominant and exiting! thanks Roy!

    :good

One quality Jones did have, is that he made you want to watch him fight again, even if you wasn't a Boxing fan. He was just that spectacular. I don't like sprinting, but I'll watch Usain Bolt. I don't like Swimming, but I'll watch Phelps. People recognise special athletes.

He should've been much bigger than he was, and I mean that as a compliment to his talents. His demeanor was entirely different from the appeal Tyson brought to the sport, but equally entertaining. You ever read what historian Herb Goldman said about him?

No Sir, but I'd be very intrested?

I'd of loved a 24/7 with a prime Jones. Preferably with James Toney too. It was obvious in the Jones vs JC one, that age had mellowed him, and defeat had humbled him.

It was pretty eye opening at the time. Goldman took a lot of criticism from his nostalgic, cigar puffing peers.

I actually agree with the majority of that.

The cigar puffer (rest his soul) became incredibly out dated, and bitter towards modern fighters at one point in time.

It's an outright denial of visual evidence in front of people's faces as far as I can tell. It isn't just simply a case of advancements in my mind because we are drifting further and further away from Roy's peak -- so where are the remotely comparable fighters? How long ago was Tyson's best, at least two decades now -- where's the heavyweight that surpasses his combination of speed and power? Some guys are just special.
