This isn't just about Roy Jones, but about fighters in general since the days of same-day weigh-ins. In the Jones vs Marciano thread, people were saying that Jones was too small for Marciano, that Jones was a natural 160-168 guy, wouldn't do well against great "heavyweights" etc. But even at 168, Jones was entering the ring in the 180s. Jones said he was 180 in the ring against Hopkins at MW. So we're talking about prime Jones here. Bottom line, in terms of height, reach, and weight, Jones was about as big as Ezzard Charles and many other opponents of Marciano. In fact, most of the guys that Marciano fought would be light heavies and cruiserweights today, just like Marciano himself.
ur dude, marciano was a small heavy even for his time. Roy Jones was only able to weigh 190lbs and box against ruiz because A he was faster than **** offa shovel, and B, Ruiz was about as dreadful a heavyweight belt holder as you can get. You have to realise that marciano would of gotten his himself chinned against the lennox lewis's the george foremans of this world??!
The only "people" that are using the 160-168 b.s. is Burt... He continually does this because he wants to make his point, and he tries to do it by thinking of Jones and talking about Jones as a middleweight. He doesn't address the fact that Jones walked into the ring at over 180... That would make them very similar in size... That being said, Marciano still should be the favorite and should beat him. Jones shouldn't be written off. Marciano has a great shot at beating anyone 200lbs and under.
