    Well Jones and Hopkins would have fought earlier if Hopkins wasn't a chicken**** and didn't move up until AFTER Roy got KTFO.

    As soon as Roy lost, Hopkins moved up. I couldn't believe Hopkins would make it that obvious :lol:

    It was obvious as to what he was doing ..Thats why he avoided him for yrs after their first fight ..What did Toney and Roy call him , a bottom feeder:lol:

    He was a class act in his prime and its quite sad to see him go on and on. Im a massive Calzaghe fan but no way that bout would have gone down like that if they had met a few years previously

    Hang em up Roy we dont wanna see you deteriorate badly as you get older cos of all the beatings at the tail end of yuor career - HOFr No doubt!

    The original thread was crap. It's not Roy's fault Calzaghe and Hopkins didn't move up until Roy was clearly past it.

    And people are still bringing up Dairusz Michaelszcwski? :lol: :lol:

    the only person I give credit to is Tarver he at least actually chased a fight with Roy and got it when Roy was closer to his peak ..But the rest were just talking out their ass !

    Nigel Benn wanted to fight him but its by-the-by really, Benn was finished by then pretty much, just after the payday i think he knew he wouldve lost.

    He didnt waisted all his prime.

    But he waited a big chunck of it.

    Fighting guys like:

    David Telesco
    Richard Hall
    Antoine Bird
    Bryant Brannon
    Derrick Harmon
    Richard Frazier
    Glenn Kelly
    Vinny Pazienza
    Eric Lucas
    Otis Grant

    It was somewhere between those fights that media and some fans threathened to make a Roycott and started calling him reluctant Roy cause he wasnt taking the steps necessary to make fights with Calzaghe,Hopkins,Jirov,DM even HBO who had a multi year contract with him were getting pissed at him cause of it.He was getting paid millions to fight overmatched opponents and he was happy doing it why take on more dangerous foes if he didnt needed to?But cause of that his legacy isnt as good as it could have been(we dont know for sure) and his fans had to endure seeing him against bum after bum in boring meaningless fights.

    No it's not at all. Roy had already been proven to be shot losing a couple times before that. Big Bad Dariusz got his cherry popped and 0 taken by a guy Roy ****ed around with :lol:

    Calzaghe,Hopkins are also to blame for the fights not happening.

    But Roy who pretty much call the shots back the didnt went out of his way to try and get a fight with those guys made.

    Like i said he had his multi year million dollars contract with HBO so why bother with taking tougher fights.

    But back then Roy pretty much call the shots, he could have went out of his way and make an effort to make those fights happen but he didnt need those guys cause he had his multi year multi million contract with HBO and was happy with it.
