ok yeah he had a good performance last night and against that bum sheika but cmon now both of those guys were picked by roy's team because theyre stiff and slow and they would make roy look good and make everyone think he's back to his old ways.anybody who is young with speed and some power(chad dawson?? danny green??) will beat roy into retirement.

Jeff Lacy invited Roy to his last fight against Otis Griffin. When he won, he called RJ out on the spot and Roy accepted the challenge.

Building up the fight Roy was the obvious favorite, but there were some who thought Lacy's power and aggressive Joe Frazier style could give a "shot" Roy Jones problems.

What we saw last night are things that no fighter in the sport today can do. 12-16 punch combos... 6 left hooks to the head at one time. accurate uppercuts in closer quarters while looking the other way. It was an awesome performance against a world class fighter who had never been Ko'd and had only lost to both Calzaghe and Jermaine Taylor by decision (he floored Taylor mid-fight).

I'm sick of haters saying Roy's shot. He could beat anyone in the Light heavyweight division, including Dawson. He already beat Hopkins. If he moves up to Cruiserweight and Heavyweight, his hand speed will simply pick apart heavy, slower guys. Roy would just have to keep his defense polished because you can't take too many shots at that level.

You'll see hater. Roy's back! Now, how long until its truly gone? Who knows? Age wasn't the real reason Roy declined after the Ruiz fight. losing the weight messed up his body. After he got caught with the luckiest punch in boxing history, he had to adjust to being a fighter who was knocked out. It takes a psychological toll obviously. Then age started to show a little and he had to make the kinds of adjustments that only Big Roy could provide.

Now, you have Roy back to who he was, but with some wear and tear. He can still be the best light Heavyweight or cruiserweight out there.

I'm a massive Jones fan, always have been but you're delusional my friend. No figher EVER has been able to turn back the clock and Roy is no different, I hope he just retires now after a good performance because if he tries to step it up again he's going to lose again, and badly.

The Slappy fight should have given you all the messages you needed to know that he isn't what he was, getting beaten up by a cocksucker like that was pure humiliation, knowing that prime Jones would have eaten the guy for breakfast. Beating Slappy victims Sheika and Lacy proves nothing other than Jones isn't as shot as two guys we totally KNEW were shot, and that's it.

now that he's beaten a sheika who basically is a journeyman and a shot jeff lacy, he 's managed to get some fans thinking he's back and he might get another big fight only to be exposed again. i can't see him beating hopkins, dawson, adamek, johnson, any one of the fighters in the smw tournament, or allen green, or lucian bute. hell, i don't even know if he can beat pavlik if he moved up fought rj @ 170. maybe rj, can fight another washed up fighter and let his fans think he's back. he ought to fight librado andrade.

You are a massive tool. What's delusional about hoping my favorite fighter can continue to look as good as he did last night. The quality of the opponents a guy like Roy or Floyd or any of the true greats fight is always going to be debated by geeks like you. All I know is coming into the fight, Lacy had a respectable record and was 8 years younger and ripped as hell. He claimed to be up for the fight. He wasn't a shot Sheika.

He's world class. Roy put on a spectacular show. Do I think he's a lock to beat a Dawson, Adamek, hell even Klitsckos? Hell no.

Look at it like this. Fighting an exciting fighter who is a legend in the sport is a lot more interesting than watching Dawson fight a mandatory or most of the top 10 light heavies.

Don't be a front-runner man. You gotta believe in your idols and the people you respect. everyone bitches about how he's washed up because he's not RJ in his prime (one of the best who ever did it). But Roy Jones JR. at 3/4 of who he once was, is better than most other fighters. His hand speed is still among the fastest in the game.

of course. anybody who dosent see this is delusional. jones went the likes of guys like sheika and lacy, who are even more washed up then him. and neither man was a great fighter even in their prime. not to mention fighting a washed up, blown up trinidad, guys like hanshaw, prince ajamu. all these fights were designed to get jones confidence amd ego back up after getting crap beaten out of him by calzaghe and losing for a second time to tarver.

Lacy is on the slide, but he's still a world class fighter. Not elite, but world class. Roy beating him so easily says that Roy prepared well. If Roy comes in fighting with confidence I think that he can beat Glen Johnson and possibly give Dawson a good fight.

I didn't see last nights fight but i'd say Roy is probably 60-70% of what he used to be, which is enough to take on most of his opposition and make some good pay days. I'd love to see him win a major belt and defeat a top guy again. Until he gets blasted again, and hopefully that never happens, he should keep on fighting.

The man can still out box plenty of today's fighters his hand speed is un matched but no doubt the haters are right he 's shot to bits ..Im surprised that Lacy didn't crack that glass jaw of his since he was so shot ..
