I'm thinking the ultimate goal for Roy at this point has to be a second Hopkins fight. The story is there, HBO would pick it up, and he won't take the kind of damage he would off of fighters like Adamek and Dawson.

I know you are a nuthugger but this is hilarious. Did you see what happened when Roy fought a legit fighter in Calzaghe? He got schooled. Embarrassed. Was made to look like a complete joke.

Jones has been feasting on shot fighters. He can beat most of the C level Light Heavyweights but that is it.

The guy is scared to take a punch in the ring. He has no Chin and he knows it.

The next LEGIT (not shot or way overweight) fighter he fights is going to lay him out cold. Let him fight Dawson or even Tarver (who is real faded now) and see what happens. Jones is a C level fighter now. He is not going to be able to continue to handpick guys who can't hurt him forever.

No I said Roy would win a UD. Lacy is beyond awful he can't punch anymore hell he can't do anything. Jones has been reduced to fighting Joe Calzaghe leftovers on obscure PPV's. :roflatsch

 

Nobody is claimin Lacy as a gr8 win, but it was a gr8 performance for a 40 yr old guy on his way outta boxing.

 

This is hard to say since he never fought best in his career to know if it was him or not. When he fought better guys he lost. I did not expect Johnson to knock him out, but Tarver's counter seemed legit. Calzaghe beating him was the speed of Calzaghe overwhelming Jones. This fight and the last one for Jones makes Calzaghe look pretty good.

I don't think you've put a lot of thought into this. Hopkins and Toney are spectacular wins, not to mention going up from 154 when he started all the way to HW to pick up a strap.

Jones is shot to bits. Has nothing to do with Calzaghe. Prime Calzaghe would have been an underdog against a prime Hopkins, not to mention Jones.

 

What is your point? DId i say Jones is the best 175 in the world? Just saying is performance was impressive. Beating Lacy is not. The way he did it, at 40, was.

I actually agree with this, yeah he looked great last night, BUT Jeff Lacy isn't exactly grade A material. I just think Roy needs to hang em up. He had a GREAT career.
