If Jones were a ducker he wouldn't have fought an absolute prime version of James Toney.

To the newbie who's trying to get some attention, I suggest you check out more videos of Jones regarding guys like Benn, Eubank and Liles. Jones would have smoked those with ease. Here's a video I find myself posting more and more for the ******s who lack information yet badmouth certain fighters.

Move to 5:05 and check out Ron Borges' question to Roy with Roy's answer in public regarding Collins(who beat Eubank at the time), Benn and Liles.

Yet he's scared from Eubank and Benn. In reality it's the other way around and both Benn and Eubank admitted it.

I would back RJJ to beat Benn 4/5

but Benn had unbelievable heart and of course his power so he had a chance, probably more than most against prime RJJ.

Dont agree with the Op at all.

But out of the fighters he listed, McClellan in 92/3 at MW would have stood the best chance.

Nigel Benn didn't know the meaning of the word scared. You're just as bad as the people bad-mouthing Jones.

Benn addmitted to being frightened of Jones, though in a good way.

"He terrifies me. But I need that. I am up for this fight."

As to who ducked who, it's more complicated than that. Benn wanted Jones but Benn was with King and Showtime, Jones couldn't make the fight happen without giving King options. Jones didn't want to give King options and who can blame him?

Jones didn't break his back to make this tough fights, or a lot of tough fights, but it's not a simple case of a duck.

I also think Benn had a decent puncher's chance although my guess is he would have been stopped in the second or third.

G-man and Jones were big pals of course, which made that a tough fight to make.

When asked if Benn would fight Jones, Nigel's manager replied, For that much money($6m talked about), they can have the ****in belt.

There is no reason on earth that Benn would have avoided a fight with Jones. No fear of losing, he had done before. No fear of getting hurt(Went in with Gman and Barkley). Had fought in the States. Would have been his biggest paycheck of his career.

It just didnt happen, thats boxing. But to think Benn would be afraid to fight him is insane.

    Very true.

They were meant to be on a course to meet after Benn, but like you said earlier that brings King into it, and their friendship. Probably wouldnt have happened.

In the commentary for Benn Mclellan the guy said the fight was to set up a scrap between Jones and Mclellan . As Benn said at the end Mclellan " was only brought over to bash me up ", they seriously under-estimated Nigel Benn, which seems crazy really.
McGrain, what makes you think Benn would have been beaten so early ? And have you watched the Mclellan fight yet ? i know you didn't want to but like i said i reckon Mclellan would rather people remember him for being a top fighter and watch his fights rather than think about what happened to him.

That fight was closer than the scorecards indicated.

To those people who think Benn avoided a fight with Roy, watch this video. Roy Jones scared Nigel Benn but that's what Benn actually wanted, for him to perform at his best. Here's the clip:
