How about him hiding behind a lightly regarded WBOGUS title in wales while Okkte was a unified champ.
So it's understandable for Roy not to fight DM in Germany for fear of Robbery, but not for Calzaghe against Ottke?? Double standard
As absurd as this thread is you're head and shoulders above most. Stop making this about Calzaghe. No-one gives a **** about Calzaghe in this thread except you. The context of the debate has nothing to do with him.
This thread is about the GOAT when it comes to ducking and cherrypicking, why shouldn't slappy be mentioned?
Everyone knows I am not a Roy Jones fan but he was not the worst ducker in Boxing history. The guy handpicked the majority of his opponents but there have been worse cases.
Roy unified all the titles, Slappy hid in wales his whole career than came out when everyone else was too old.:yep
Because it's not about CALZAGHE. Jeez are you thick as well as a hater? Don't answer that, you already have. Your posts are a clear indication of your intellect.
Yeah he unified after DM had vacated them. Much like Calzaghe did when Ottke vacated them. DM vacated the WBA and IBF in 97 and Roy had them to go along with his WBC in 99. 2 years. Ottke vacated his WBA and IBF in 04 and Calzaghe had them, along with the WBC and his WBO in 07. 3 years. Roy did it a year quicker, Calzaghe got all 4. Not bad. Neither belong in this thread.
Proven wrong as many gave you responses with proof and TWO videos that clearly shows Benn is the one who had fear when it came to Roy Jones not the other way around. A video of RJJ clearly stating that Benn was offered and turned it down, a text quote of Benn admitting fear when it comes to Jones and a VIDEO of him saying it. So who should we believe?, a stubborn forum poster or three legitimate sources(two being videos, one of Jones and Benn his self)?
Benn said not fear as in I wont fight him, but fear as in he gives him the fear, to get him up for the fight. Pysched up, hunger, etc. As for Roy's video saying Benn turned it down, you mean King did. As McGrain said earlier there were other factors involved, like options and the like that couldnt be agreed.
I remember reading somewhere that Benn didn't want to fight Jones after the McClellan fight as he knew Jones was friends with the guy and the fight would have been seen as revenge. I don't think Benn and Jones were prime at the same time anyway so talk of Roy ducking him is nonsense, same with Eubank. My opinion is that much as I loved those British fighters back then Jones would have smashed them all to bits with the possible exception of Eubank who would have gone the distance.
