He didn't want to fight William Guthrie (Hard Puncher) or Lou Del Valle. Lou was already set to fight in Germany too, he won the vacant title there. Nice try though..... Keith
Toney did train, however he was weight drained. But he was weight drained in nearly every fight at MW AND SMW. Toney used to play football in highschool and his weight then was like 200. I don't think there was a fight at MW/SMW that he was not weight drained. It's not a good excuse. He was weight drained when he knocked out Nunn. You don't have to rate any fight, as that is YOUR subjective opinion, which is completely ridiculous. Toney didn't look like **** in that fight, RJJ style was all wrong for him. Toney tried but RJJ slickness he was not able to adapt too. If you are not going to rate that fight, you might as well throw out a whole bunch of victories that other fighters may have had. Because there is always some excuse as to why some guy loss a fight. Stop being stupid.
you know what... Ill man up and admit i forgot about those toney fights.... I was just talking **** to cover my ass:yep In retrospect, both guys were good fighters, its a shame that they never fought... I just beleive DM is underrated in the usa My bad, im just an argumentative ******* :good can you blame me:hey this is esb afterall
lol that if i could caption that pic roy - damn, i shoulda actually did some road work instead of all those bicep curls... I musta forgot!! :yep
It didn't stop Montell Griffin from going overseas to fight Dariusz. Where did Roy's most recent fight take place?
I disagree.... Even though roy was not visably hurt.... He was not throwing back or defending himself properly. He just put his hands up against the ropes and let green wail away at him.... It was roys fault, he should have showed some footwork, slipped some shots, ect... You cant let somone wail on you against the ropes while you cover up Thats why your coach will alway tell you never to sit on the ropes and not throw back even if your blocking all the shots.. After like 15 shots they will almost always stop it in the ams.... Roy was just layin there doing jack **** for like 2 minutes:-( his own fault atsch
I meant Montell Griffen when he went and fought Dm. He got hit with two clean shots, leaned onthe ropes, and they stopped the fight. The Jones stoppage was perfectly reasonable in my opinion. Keith
I though that stoppage was a bit suspect too, but DM was passed it by that time, and a shell of his former self... I really wish him and roy fought in their primes, it would have been a perfect match up A solid chined, hard punching pressure fighter, with a speed demon with power They both clearly exceld at what they did, I honestly think Roy would have won. Because he loooked super human at that point, but DM would have probobly been his best win after toney... Because he was a monster in his prime! Its a shame they never fought!:-(
Yeah, it would have been a good fight, and I agree Jones would have won. Dm didn't have one shot power, and I don't think he'd be able to string punches together against a prime Jones. He would stalk him and have his moments, but in the end would take too much punishment and Jones would win a fairly comfortable UD. Keith
I honestly think It would have been a stoppage either way. Roy has always had a suspect chin, and if somone could have cracked that chin in his prime... It would have been DM if anyone....\ However, i feel jones would have stopped DM.... DM liked to be a bully, and he didnt respond very well to fighters who fought back hard, and roy had verrry good power at 175. I can see roy beating DM ring post to ring post and DM's corner stopping with DM protesting..... Its a shame whenever a divisions 2 elite fighters never fight... I still dont understand why roy didnt got to germany to fight him... I feel he had a very good chance to stop him, both would have made good money, and DM was number 1 lineal. I guess politics got in the way like always atsch
