true. and the ruiz that fought both was about the same but toney by that point, by fat or however, was a full size heavy. roy was still pretty small for the time.

I think the ref helping Jones by not allowing Ruiz to use his normal tactics had something to do with it as well.

Said it many times..on ability alone..physical or otherwise...there is'nt one fighter in history from 160-190 I would favour over prime Roy Jones..which IMO was around his 168-early 175 reign..and that's not counting the Ruiz HW thing neither..As a pure fighter,I find it hard to imagine anyone beating him in his prime..not even the legendary universal GOAT Sugar Ray Robinson.

Sure..some IMO woul make it a 50/50 fight..Spinks,Bon Foster,SRR,Marvin Hagler,SRL,Tommy Hearns etc..Some of these cats had just the talent to make it at least an even odds fight..but I'd still favour no-one over Roy Jones..His physical ablilities IMO have never been seen before or since..Sure you could find fighters with faster hands..faster feet??...Meldrick Taylor,Camachos,SRR/SRL in combinations..etc..but I'm not sure if there's been anyone with the near perfect blend of speed and power quite like Roy Jones had in his peak..

The catch though..is P4P is much more than ability..His record falls far short from aforementioned fighters..and that hurts his P4P standing..not his fault..but he simply can't be credited for fights that never happened..SRL alone..even with his short-ass carreer..had much bigger fights than RJJr ever had.

I'm one of few people who think Roy Jones had the tools to have KOd every fighter he ever met..if he was a different fighter in his head...he certainly had all the tools..and so far ahead of the everybody he ever fought.

And as that fighter..IMHO..I say he's mos def Top30..Hell of fighetr.
