Even shot, those are two winnable fights for Roy, and as such, he'll be encouraged to keep on going. Hopefully he doesn't take too much more punishment before he decides to hang 'em up for good, but I have a feeling Sheika and Woods will have the same effect Valuev had on Holyfield- they're winnable enough that he's going to stay deluded into thinking he's championship caliber.

If he does win both, I've got a very strong feeling we will see the Dawson fight happen in 2010.

Why does Jones show more guts in fighting now then he did when he was prime?

Yeah, but Ali had Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Norton, Patterson, Shavers, etc etc etc.

RJJ has Hops, Ruiz, Tarver 1 I guess and, uh, that's it for really meaningful victories.

I think he now realizes that he pissed away his talent. He thought he would always have the physical tools he had growing up and in his prime, and he didn't really challenge himself like he should have.

He should have been a top 5 ATG. He had the talent. If he had of gone the Tito/DLH/late Hops career path, (fight everybody) he would likely have been considered the greatest fighter since SRR. As it is now, Roy Jones is all woulda, coulda, shoulda.

He never showed us more than glimpses of what he should have been, and I think on some level, he knows that and is trying to do what little he can to address it at this late stage. Hence the Calzaghe fight, which he never would have gone near in his prime.

because he and his nuthugging fans have a built in excuse for every bad performance.

Jones has a Glass Jaw and he needs to retire before he gets seriously hurt.

He does need to quit. He needs to try basketball or something.

The only fight he should be talking about is the Hopkins rematch so Hopkins can retire him.

    Add Toney to that list.

Forgot about Toney, fair call. That may well be his most impressive win.

For the amount of talent he had, and the number of years he spent at the top of the sport, his resume is utterly pathetic.

If RJJ loses to a fighter he dominated a few years back it'll be embarassing.

Interesting. I didn't know Tarver was one of Roy's trainers.
