this is another thing, but look at Roy, now he is willing to travel anywhere and what he kept telling back then?

Look at Barrera, he is travelling to Khan.
Ali treveled to Europe at his Prime.

Roy could have even earned more money in 1997-2001 for fighting Dariusz in Germany than in the States...

Make list of fighters who beat two ATG's in their 20's.

    Well, because Germany is corrupt.

Jones could have been disqualified in the first round for landing a punch (Robin Reid was docked points for landing punches fighting over there).

Also, DM just wasn't that good, especially compared to Jones, Hopkins, Toney etc.

It's not as if we hadn't had our fair share of bull**** happening in the US, either- hell, look no further than the Chris John- Rocky Juarez fight just last week, and in higher profile fights like Lewis-Holyfield 1 and Foreman-Schulz. Germany by no means has the market cornered on bull****- the reality is it's as global as you're gonna get when it comes down to hometown/home country guys fighting outsiders.

I wish one of the two guys had traveled to fight the other, but unfortunately, both guys had valid enough reasons for not doing it that the fans and the sport never got to see a fight that really should've happened.

dude, he is gonna travel to fight Woods...he could have earned millions for fighting Dariusz, but in the 97-02 period he was well paid by fighting the cans only...as well as Dariusz was...

    Of course. Bad decisions/officiating everywhere.

Not outright, consistent cheating and corruption like in Germany though. Valuev losing 5 or 6 fights in a row and being given the decision everytime, Ottke having referees warn opponents for punchng him, Maske winning decisions after losing 10 rounds. Like it or not this is what Germany is known for in internationsal boxing. No sane Champion would go there and risk being robbed.

I think he beats Omar Sheika and Clinton Woods but will lose to Chad Dawson.

    If only Roy would retire.

  10. Roy will never, ever enter the ring against Dawson. Different eras. Roy's no fool.

Because in his prime he could get in the ring and dominate anyone he was put up against (at a realistic weight), now the world knows he can't so he has to "sell" himself by showing guts etc..

Sheika is a decent fighter. Don''t be fooled by his number of losses. This is no cakewalk for RJJ but I expect he will be too powerful for Sheika.

He needs to hang them up. I read that he has financial problems. That might explain his relentless need to keep fighting.

  13. And in the end, when the selling has accomplished the task, he actually gets in the ring with these sort of guys ...

    Prince Badi Ajamu
    Anthony Hanshaw
    Felix Trinidad (semi-retired)
    Joe Calzaghe
    Omar Sheika

Not exactly a powerful group that can do any damage (except for maybe a cut or a thumb in the eye)

If Dawson's still the champ at that point in time and Roy does beat Sheika and Woods, it will happen.

Bull****. There has always been bad decisions and corruption in boxing, in the USA more than anywhere else.
