I've watched Calzaghe right from the start of his career, travelling around. Lucky enough to be ringside a few times. The boy can box.

Obviously I like Joe but I gotta say he's past his peak, and he knows that himself too. In saying that he is still an incredible fighter. Obviously Jones is past his prime too. I think when Joe beats Jones everyone will say he beat a shot fighter. But if you look at opinions on this forum they seem pretty split. I reckon Calzaghe will want to fight again after this - one more mega money purse in 8-12 months will be too good to turn down

The fight itself? Everyone seems to have missed one thing. The jab. arguably the most important punch in boxing. Joe's slight height advantage will mean he can paw and double jab away outta range and when Jones counters Joe will flurry back. Hopkins is tall and it wasn't easy getting the distance right without getting cuaght with that big right coming in.

I think the only chance Jones has of winning is to steal rounds with flashy combos. But the pace Joe fights and the number of punches he throws and the age Jones is...well, I don't see Junior being able to enjoy long periods of posing.

Don't forget Hopkins, as canny as he is, was exhausted at the end of the fight and needed breathers along the way and Calzaghe was poor by his standards that night. I make Hopkins 2008 much better than Jones 2008.

I can see Calzaghe growing in confidence after paying Jones respect for the first few rounds and upping the tempo possibly stopping a tired Jones late on or winning comfortably on points.

Joe has a great chin. Watching that Kessler performance back was amazing. The Dane is strong, very strong. Joe showed he's a box fighter. I think against Jones he'll start off boxing and then mix it later.

Let's hope the styles gel better than BHop/Calzaghe

theres more ways to come forawrd, and your the mug for not underststanding, just assuming that every fighter who moves forward walks like a penguin..

calzaghes does say that that he likes fighters who come to him, but he looked in danger when kessler backed him up early, he cowarded up against the ropes like *PLEASEEEE".. hes used to normal bums.. so when he says i like fighters to come to me, im my mind i dont think or roy jones jr, i think of kabary salem and jeff lacy and all them other mugs hes fought

coz calzaghes a bum himself, when he talks hes talking about other bums.. hes not talking about RJJ.. hes never seen or dealt with his come forward style

hes an experienced fighter so he talks with experience, whos his experience with...... 45 nobodys... course he likes them dustmen to walk towards him lol

you need to take things he says and take a deeper look

its coz his defence is his offence, he likes to counter and keep fighters off the center of the ring, he says it all the time how importanta it is to keep center of the ring... roy jones dont abide by them rules, he can fight wherever..

We need to look as deeply as you right? A guy that calls an unbeaten undisputed super middleweight champion and 2 weight world champion a bum.

    That deep.

I think most people would agree that Calzaghe has a good chin and is good at taking shots. As for on the back foot, for one i don't see Jones coming forward too much, he'll let Calzaghe come to him and try to counter. If Calzaghe does go backwards, from what i've seen he can fight well (Eg. Byron Mitchell fight).

I think the first few rounds will be Calzaghe stalking, both cautious and trying to work off the jab and outbox each other. Calzaghe will be aware of Jones right hand in the early stages, he doesn't want to play catch up again like he did against Bhop.

Mid rounds i'm not so sure, but i'm confident Joes stamina will win him the later rounds. From what i've seen in the training videos Joe looks like he's hittin with alot more poor that usual.

Anyway, i have joe on points, either way it's gonna be a cracking fight

you talk about the trinindad fight. and the prince fight, and how hes got absaloutely nothing left..

he looked good in the tito fight and wasnt properly out to kill, he was toying with tito, a PPV event, its likely roy was being nice to the public coz they wanted to see a 12round fight with snipets of gresatness..

he had a torn left bicep aswell

to me, despite all the **** and doubt all the darkness, roy has come back and is being himself again.. "by the power of God",.. not everyone believes in god but its a weird thing.. i think roys found a balance in himself and i dont believe it is his time to hang up the gloves just yet.. i see him as having a couple of great fights left in him 1 being a calzaghe victory

and calzaghes not a really dangerous fighter.. so its a cozy fight, i dont think roy can beat all the guys he beat previously.. but i do think he will beat calzaghe

your loooking at the stats im looking at the miracle side of things and things are looking positive

your a hater im a believer

It's nothing to do with hating. Fluxstuff is making logical boxing points based on the evidence of Jones' recent fights.

You are praying for a miracle performance.

It's more like Fluxstuff is a sensible analyst and you are a delusional fanboy.

Why don't you explain why Jones will win? Instead of just demanding it. Don't use the 'more powerful' argument, because Calzaghe has an excellent chin. Instead try to explain how Jones will cope with:

    a) Calzaghes work rate,

    b) His awkward southpaw stance,

    c) Calzaghe is probably going to be the more confident of the two,

    d) Jones poor performances of the last 5 years (Tito was not an overall good performance for me for the simple reason that it was at light heavy and he'd been out of the ring for several years.)

    e) Calzaghe's adaptability
