    Case closed for Roy Jones.

    http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sports...alzaghe-as-world-s-best-boxer-91466-22193512/

I'm going to assume Roy has Pacman at #2.

As you might expect, the man whom Jones called the top P4P fighter in the game was pleased with his opponent's assessment:

he's not far off the truth, though this thread is gonna be filled by vitriolic yanks as the sun comes up over there, who think they know better than roy jones.

prediction - they'll all say he's just saying that so he looks better if he wins.

I love that addition...shows that even a Brit like you understands he's not the GOAT...but definitely the greatest AT THIS TIME...

I think if he beats RJJ then he retires with the same legacy status as RJJ himself...

but some of you crazy ****in Brits thinking he's the GOAT are hittin the pipe ****in HARD! :rasta ...all of you who feel that he's the GOAT needs to slap themselves ****in SILLY!

He's great and has accomplished many feats...but doesnt deserve in the slightest...GREATEST BOXER TO EVER SET FOOT IN THE RING...

i think IF he beats Roy Jones...he MIGHT be on the list for p4p greatest of all time at around 7 or 8 for being the first highly recognized European fighter that has accomplished a lot in the sport and has brought much respect for fighters from that end of the country...but certainly not for beating the best and answering ALL doubts of the critics as those above him on the same list have time and time again

anyone saying he's the greatest ever is clearly on a wind up , he's a long long way off that.
there is however a strong case for him being no. 1 at the moment .

I have to pick Calzaghe based upon age and how they've both looked recently. Roy is a guy who may have been the most naturally gifted fighter I've ever seen, but most of his game was predicated on his reflexes. Those reflexes aren't what they once were now that Roy is 39 and after 50+ fights.

That said, if Roy pulls out one of his lightning-fast hooks from nowhere and gets Joe hurt to where he could land some finishing blows, I wouldn't be stunned. He's bigger and faster than Joe, and Joe will be coming right to Roy, which is what Roy likes. Joe's being a southpaw will help Joe, though. Roy's not wild about southpaws.

    I'm taking Joe by points.

Roy is right, Calzaghe is the best Pound for Pound Fighter in the World, Look at his last few fights, he beat Lacy, who was "the next tyson" and was expected to whoop Calzaghe, he Beat Kessler, who had barely lost a round at that point and was expected to Beat Calzaghe by many, then he Beat p4p top 5 Bernard hopkins, who whooped the great White American Hype the fight after.

Calzaghe is the most overrated fighter in the world.. I would have love to see him against a prime Roy, prime B-hop, prime Toney or prime Eubanks.. you seriously think he would be 45-0 then ? who has he fought that was in their prime ever besides Lacy (hype!!) and Kessler ?

Change the record. Calzaghes wasnt at his peak when he beat Kessler and Hopkins either.:deal

he could have fought better fighters but like jones says, you don't get to 45-0 and undisputed SMW champion by being ****.

It wasn't long ago that Jones said that Calzaghe was nothing more than a good Euro fighter....
