I ve heard about this some times. Even his german wikipedia states so...but not his english. Just for fun but is it true that Roy was timed once and his punch reached a speed of 201 mph (324 km/h)? I can t find anything about it...maybe the US boys knows more. Peace
Seems WAY too fast. Here's cite from Scientific American. It says that Ricky Hatton punched at 32mph tops! I know he's not the fastest, but 200mph seems way too much. Average person punches at like 10 or 15. http://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/episode.cfm?id=5538765E-E7F2-99DF-393E0A0CD7821157
32 mph is 42 feet per second. Count 1 second. Could you move your fist 40 feet across the room in that time? Seems pretty fast to me. 201 mph is about 300 feet per second. Are you saying that in a single second RJJ's fist could cover a football field? That's just not true.
Guiness World Record for fastest punch ever recorded. 44mph. http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-6000/fastest-martial-arts-punch/
44 mph (70 km/h)? Taekwondo guy Bren Foster was timed in "Fight Science" once, and his kick was 136 mph (close to 219 km/h). Since you must be register here 1 year to post a link, i can t do it. Go on youtube for bren foster speed BZA and u can see it.
I'm sorry Drago, I don't know what else to tell you. That's the official world record right there in front of you. Here is Chad Dawson's punch measured. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1BUpqHUuRHs 30 feet per second, which is about 20 miles per hour. Bren Foster's kick speed may be 135 mph, but a kick isn't a punch. There is no way Roy Jones punches at 201mph.
