Roy already beat him and in that sense he does not need Bernard at all. In a legacy sense. It would be great for Hopkins if he could sort of wipe out the RJJ win over him to a degree so he could really use the fight. So in a legacy sense Bernard needs it.

In a money sense .... well, RJJ doesn't need it because he can take fights with mediocre fights and still get on HBO and Showtime.

The only way in which Roy may need it more than Bernard is if he has a desire to enter the rankings these days. Who knows if he cares about that.

Neither one needs this fight. If I were Hopkins I'd take it just to win a rematch and have that on my record. But he certainly doesn't need it. It wouldn't prove Hopkins was the greater all-timer though. It would be 1-1, Jones beating Hopkins before Hopkins was in his prime and Hopkins beating Jones far past his prime. Meh.

Roy. Hopkins still has viable options, that would improve his legacy, against the Dawson/Johnson winner or Adamek. Roy is fighting Danny Green for a joke belt next.

Hopkins would need it just so he has that on his resume and it would help his legacy if he were able to avenge that loss, but really both don't need it.

If Hopkins beat Jones now he'd get as much credit as Calzaghe did, ie none.

Jones needs Hopkins, he wants to prove that he is still one of the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Everyone (exept his fans) thinks he is washed up and has nothing to do but retire.
A win over Hopkins would bring him back to the top of the game. I think he's hungrier than ever.

    I voted "neither".

Why? Because after RJ beats Green and picks up an IBO CW belt, he will have about as many options as Hopkins. Tarver 4, Johnson 2, Dawson, anyone at LHW. Maybe someone at SMW.

Sure it would be great if these two legends went at it but they don't need each other.

No need for this fight. Neither gains anything here. BHop needs to focus on current legit fighters to further build his legacy, which he said during that radio interview recently was his most important focus right now.

Jones definitely gains something if he beats the #3 P4P (#4 once PBF returns) fighter in the world.

Funny enough, Roy Jr. needs this rematch more. Kinda odd, but definitely the truth. Roy slept for too long and B-Hop has and continues to prove himself over and over again since they last fought... I'd personally love to see it...again.

Voted both, Jones needs him to remain relevant, Hopkins feels the need to redeem himself for the loss to Jones.
