:rofl:roflatsch Yeah, that's why it is a known Fact that he is in debt to the IRS (and god knows who else) past his Glass Jaw. He has no money. None.
You are comparing Golden Boy to Jones rinky dink promotional company? :roflatsch Jones has no Money and no Chin. None.
Dude, Jones is a nobody in the U.S. I know it's hard for some of you who live outside the U.S. to believe this but it's true. No one outside of boxing knows him. He didn't make that much money. And you can lose money in a lot of ways. I know he likes to gamble or used too. I know he used to fund the possible singing careers of his sons. Just little stuff here and there and not managing your money properly can lead you to money trouble, especially if you didn't make that much to begin with. He definitely was not even close to PBF, Pac, DLH, Tyson, etc.
Would Roy have been better off fighting in this era? I mean hw would he have fared had he been in his prime now against these Light Heavy n Cruiserweights? Also seems like there is more money now in the sport than when he was @ his peak, no?
That could be said about virtually every fighter since the Golden age of boxing and quite a few before too I think.
If he's broke it's not because he isn't making income it's because he needs to cut expenses. He has more income than most boxers will ever see in several careers. Mike Tyson and DLH made more money but there are not many fighters who made more money than RJJ. And the thing is RJJ still has all of his mental faculties and can still make that money outside of the ring. He doesn't need to box when he has Square Ring promotions/entertainment.
The thing is Jones has the connections and intelligence to make Square Ring big like Golden Boy. He could have done that but instead he didn't for whatever reason. http://www.boxingnews24.com/2012/05/soszynski-signs-with-roy-jones-jr-s-square-ring-promotions/ At one point he was P4P best in the world, everyone wanted to fight for his promotion company, then he was heavyweight champion on top of that, he had guys like Winky Wright who would have fought for his company. If you look at the music business he put out an album that went gold, he'd have been fine running just a promotion company and record label. I don't think he fights for money. I think with everything else he has going for him he could do just fight if he retired today. He's not like Holyfield who doesn't have several businesses. He didn't make as much money in his career as DLH, Mike Tyson or Floyd but I do think he has made more money than Pacquiao. Pacquiao never ran his own promotion company and never saw much money after Arum and others take their cut.
