Chauncey doesnt have a punch and Tua boxed like he was a born again fighter turned boxer.

Its nice that Chauncey is calling him out. Chauncey Vs Tua would put to bed the idea that Tua is shot, or that no longer relevant.

If I were Tua id fight Chauncey just to shut some folk up :deal:hi:

I love listening to Larry Holmes. He's a curmudgeon.

Are you going to interview the young Larry Holmes, as advertised in the picture? :)

Anyone get a chance to listen?

I'd be curious to hear some feedback. I know we covered a lot of stuff that Larry's spoken on many times over, but we did get his views on things pertaining to the current scene, including today's stars, paydays, Pac-May, and more.

    Please let me know.
    :good

JENNA J: Since we’re on the subject of this past week’s fights our very own Co-Host and heavyweightcorrespondent Chauncy Welliver fought this past weekend. Chauncy, can you tell us a little bit about your performance?

CHAUNCY WELLIVER: It was great. You know it was in Topeka, Kansas. It was more or less Galen Brown my opponent’s hometown. He lived an hour away, but still more or less it was more his hometown than mine. Let’s say that. He had a lot of fans there so there was definitely a lot of pressure. There were a lot of people booing me and really wanting me to lose. The first round I started a little slow because I wanted him to get tired. One thing I have supreme confidence in is that I have the best conditioning out there and that these guys will get tired. So I went out in the first and just kind of jabbed away. He was throwing some jabs. I’d throw two or three for everyone he threw. It kind of got stuck in a rut, though. We kind of just were doing that, jab, I throw two, he throws one, I throw two.

Well in the third round he hit me with a low blow and I’m telling you this was intentional. I mean he kind of let it be known it was intentional by winking at me and laughing when he hit me low and he dug it in pretty good. Well the referee came to me and said I had five minutes and I said, “No, no, no, I want to go right now”. So I went right then and from that point on I fought with a little bit of, I don’t want to say anger because it was very controlled, but I went out there and I went for the kill. In the fourth round I opened up on him. In the fifth round, I get a lot of stoppages because like I said, my conditioning is good. So usually I stop guys. With this I hit him with a left hook and he was out! I mean he was out against the ropes. It was almost like Tommy Morrison-Ray Mercer. He just sunk against the ropes and he couldn’t move. I was teeing off on him when he was out. It was a little weird for me because I’m not used to being in that position. I’m used to a guy being tired and saying, “I quit”. But this time I actually hurt the guy and put him away and he was one shot away from actually really being hurt. So I am glad that they stopped it.

17 Stoppages in 57 fights is NOT a lot no matter how you look at it. Especially since he only fights Z-level tomato cans and arm wrestlers he drags off the street.

He was landing 6-8 punch combos on this bum and couldn't drop him? That's not "putting someone away".

Sorry Welliver, you seem a like a decent guy and all....but you're just delusional.

CIANI: The last guy who was considered a great heavyweight champion was Lennox Lewis, and a lot of times people say, “Lennox Lewis had the best jab since Larry Holmes”.

HOLMES: No, Lennox Lewis doesn’t have no jab! I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cut you off, but Lennox Lewis don’t have no jab. He ain’t never had a jab. He got Emanuel Steward and Emanuel Steward was trying to teach him how to jab. He don’t have no jab! Lennox Lewis don’t have no jab, he has no heart, but if he gets started on you he’s got the biggest heart in the world and he’s going to kill you. But I have seen the dog come out of Lennox Lewis a couple of times when he fought, and I don’t think he had it. And he never had the jab! So don’t even put him in there and talk about his jab because he ain’t never had a jab.

CIANI: So how do you think you at your best would have matched up against a prime Lewis?

HOLMES: Listen man, I don’t go that way. If I went the way I would tell you and people would mad at me because there is nobody in boxing history that would have beaten me if I was in my prime at the same time as them. I don’t feel that anybody could beat me. Then that’s everybody’s opinion. When you say you could beat Joe Louis, or Marciano, or Dempsey or anybody else. Oh no you couldn’t! You could beat Ali. Oh no you couldn’t! So I don’t even get in that. I always say to everybody if you ask me who the greatest fighter of all time is I’m going to say me! Larry Holmes! If you ask to take me out of the picture, yeah I can take me out of the picture and say maybe Muhammad Ali, maybe Joe Louis, maybe Rocky Marciano, maybe Dempsey. I can say that! But when you ask me the question I’m going to say Larry Holmes and that’s the way I’ve always done that.

HOLMES: Well I’ll tell you what, I don’t know. I don’t think Mayweather really wants to fight Pacquiao because if somebody offered me $25 million I’m an old man and I’d come out of retirement and fight anybody because that is a lot of money to turn down. Pacquiao gets $25 million. They should go ahead and fight, the same as Mayweather and Mayweather is the one who turned it down. I wouldn’t do that if I was him.

Larry Holmes can't stand Floyd. He believes he doesn't respect his elders.
