Cotto had just "beaten" Clottey and definitely deserved a shot. ESB was pretty much divided on who they thought would win. Cotto was the first real, elite WW Pacman faced and probably the 2nd best win of his career.

Clottey? Well, he was coming off a "loss" to Cotto and the odds showed that Pacman was a 5-1 favorite but Clottey was the biggest WW Pacman had faced. So there were still some questions about whether Pacman can handle Clottey's size.

Now when we are talking about Margarito, this is where some fans started to question Pacman's opponents, and i think rightfully so. So it really makes no sense to fight another guy Pacman will destroy. Mosley has very little chance.

Did many people give Mosley a chance when he faced Margarito in January 2009, with Margarito coming off the Cotto destruction and Mosley coming off the sub-par victory over Mayorga?

he needs to prove he can stick to the gameplan and not try and emulate manny.

Little things like tapping his gloves and raising them to emulate Manny are a bit embarassing but Amir has always seemed like a genuine nice kid. Hope Maidana does well from now on to make Amir's victory look even better.

    Basically this :deal

First time he came up against real pressure since being under Roach and he unraveled plan wise.

Well he did stick to a gameplan against Mallignaggi, and now he's been in against a big puncher and stuck to it for 9 rounds, despite coming under pressure for atleast 2 of those rounds, it wasnt untill he got smoked in the 10th that it really unravelled, but still he came back to get his shots in the 11th and 12th.

Its a learning curve and think one that he will learn.

I personally don't think he utilized the plan that well even in the middle rounds. I think 7,8 and 9 he was doing well if i remember rightly :think but the earlier rounds Maidana had a few successes. A lot of people felt Khan would win by a wide margin including myself. I did also say he's drop Maidana in first round. But i never expected him to lose more then 2 rounds max.
