Happening in September, always wanted to watch him and now he is in my neck of the woods, but this is just so so sad
It is money, it helps pay some bills. If he can get a licence, then so be it. It will never be the mid 1990s, so we will never again see RJJ at his best. It is not my thing, but I am sure some will be willing to watch a former legend fight, I hope they and Roy have a good night.
Does he really need money? He must have made an insane amount of money in his career?!?! I've heard him saying that he boxes for fun, not sure if he's telling the truth. But this guy was an other worldly kind of talent when he was in his prime, easily top 5 of all time on pure physical talent. How can he end up this way? Problem when you don't get the right kind of advice as a boxer, he should have retired or stayed at the Cruiserweight limit after his Ruiz fight as a HW. It all went wrong when he went back down to LHW and his physical attributes started fading. I guess the pride and ego sometimes don't let it go.
Secret files reveal that the real Roy Jones Jr. died in 2004, and Cuba Gooding Jr. has been playing him ever since.
Tyson made fortunes and went bankrupt, along with many others. Just because you make good money doesn't mean that if you don't live within your means you won't struggle. Its all relative.
can the guy just not love what he is doing. He loves boxing, that sorta drive is sorely missing in the sport today. People to scared to lose what they got. Why is that when an ex football player continues way beyond their peak at lower level they dont get anywhere near the same stick as guys past their prime in boxing do. For the most part its all they know. As long as they box at "their level" whatever that may be. As someone said it could be the only chance that some may get to see of their hero. So long as those past it pro's dont start harbiging thoughts of being number 1 again and think they can cut it with those at the top then i dont have a problem with it.
I think the difference between an old football pro and an old boxing pro are so vast I struggle to understand how you can make a comparison. The physiological differences between the sport are so vast, that it's clear to all that boxing long after you should have stopped means you are putting your health at risk, that's clearly not the case in football.
na not entirely Sol, Roy Jones aint fighting guys that he is taking beating off ... if he was getting in with young hungry talented and powerful fighters then yeah you have a point. But he aint he is fighting guys of poor quality. And there are loads and loads of footballers that have payed way beyond their years until their bodies break down. Some sturggle to walk or stand now. If the guy still has his marbles passes the necessary tests, then its his choice and i dont have a problem with it.
