Prob the most complete fighter when it came to power and speed ..I don't know of any other boxer that had the speed and power in both hands that Jones had ..

When Ray Leonard is saying he's too fast for even him, that says a lot.

    Roy Jones skills were amazing.

But once the speed, reflexes and skills reach a decline, the fighter is done!
Thats what happened with Roy and thats the reason why fighters like Floyd and Hopkins can fight on for longer because they dont depend too much on their speed but more on their ring intelligence, defense and general understanding of the sweet science, something that Roy Jones didnt have to an ATG level, which was why his career had such a tragic ending.

Yes, in his prime he was fast, special, exciting and everything about him was appealing.

Is he the most gifted? I'd say no.
Is he overrated? I'd say slightly.

In terms of sheer talent he ranks among the very best. One of my all time favorite fighters. It saddens me that his career has ended so badly.

Yeah but its about being the most gifted ..Jones just got more under the Chistmas tree than Bhops  Having longevity and great fundimentals is common in boxing ,what Jones brought to the table was once in a life time .

Even if there were someone that came along that was close to him age would eventually catch up to them as well . Reflexes are always the first to go ..

I agree as far as a prime Roy but i would also add a prime Tyson, SRL, Gamboa and lookout for Gary Russell out of DC region (Cpitol Heights, MD)

No way is Gamboa even remotely close to RJJ in terms of gifts. Sure he is explosive and fast. I don't remember RJJ getting knocked down numerous times though...especially early in the career (like Gamboa). Gamboa is good..he is nowhere near the ATHLETE RJJ was.

Tyson was gifted for sure. But he was a SOLID fundamentalist and please read my post on the previous page discussing that. Plus Tyson was NOT gifted Mentally. So he is ruled out as well.

I agree with you. Roy was AMAZING! I wouldn't say he is the greatest fighter in the last 29 years, but definitely the most gifted as far as talent is concerned.
