It depends who he beats for it. Either way, his legacy has a question mark over it since he's a roid cheat. And no, I don't think an extra belt is worth severe brain damage.
I had Roy ahead by a good margin at the time of the knockdown.. he lost a couple and had a couple good rounds at the end... Close fight, could have gone either way. Far cry from a robbery IMO
If i was extremely generous and discounted the clean effective punching criteria i could give it a draw on rounds but with Roy getting dropped that would still mean he lost. I can't for the life of me have Roy ahead in rounds. Roys punches are still showy but they are no longer effective. Suppose for the sake of not being allowed to call a close fight a robbery i guess then maybe its not but at the very best you could score even rounds and then with Roy getting dropped it still makes it extremely easy to score (and it really was not even in rounds either) So yeah im sticking to my robbery statement and no im not the type that uses it that lightly. Only reason Roy got some clean rounds in was because of the mid stint body punches.
I think roy maybe outside his prime at this stage perhaps one more easy win for a wbc belt is all that he has left in him ?
I know you aren't serious but Roy right now is so far removed from his prime that even his shadow is shot.
I agree, but starting a pointless thread to slag him off? There's no need is there? But I agree with you. I'm one of his biggest fans, he's my absolute idol, and I don't want to see him get hurt. But me and you aren't in his shoes. He can't see what we can see. We all know that he should have retired 4 or 5 years ago, but try and put yourself in his shoes for a moment. Try and picture being Roy. He was once the greatest fighter on the planet for nearly ten years. He's literally been involved with boxing since he was about 8 years old. As he's said numerous times, he sacrificed a whole childhood to become a fighter. Roy Snr was very hard on him, and all his life he's been a fighting machine, training almost everyday. Boxing is his whole life. He doesn't know anything else. Physically he's in great shape, and mentally, he's motivated and he's enjoying training again. He's got a goal of being the CW Champ. We all know he's never going to get the belt, but he's been promised a title fight, and he's not going to walk away til he gets it. We just have to hope he doesn't get hurt. So I completely agree with you, but it's so hard for him to let go. You're only seeing things from your perspective. If you were in Roy's shoes, and you'd had his life, you'd probably be doing the same, we all probably would be. Regards, Loudon.
Fair enough, I just think a lot of those rounds were close and could have gone either way... and there were a few I clearly thought went to Roy. Regardless though, it is a completely meaningless fight, and the decision allows Roy to keep seeking a title, and another brutal KO.
It's ironic that Roy Jones was given a decision against someone called 'Glassewski'. Call it poetic justice.
