Roy Jones Jr Calls Out Winner of Pavlik vs. Taylor or Calzaghe vs. Hopkins

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=14123&more=1

An ebullient Roy Jones Jr., energized by his dominating, unanimous-decision win over Felix “Tito” Trinidad at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, says he is ready to take on all comers in the light heavyweight or super middleweight divisions and beyond.

“I told you Roy Jones Jr. is back,” Jones said after his triumph over Trinidad where he twice sent the Puerto Rican legend to the canvas. “I’ll take the winner of either the re-match between Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor or Joe Calzaghe vs. Bernard Hopkins. I’m even willing to go down to 156 pounds to face Oscar De La Hoy in May. Line them up and I’ll knock them down..”

Jones (52-4, 38 KOs) surprised some longtime boxing scribes who didn’t believe he could still muster the skills that made him one of the best and most feared boxers in the history of the sport. Jones showed flashes against Trinidad on Saturday of his rare combination of speed and power that put him atop the lists of pound-for-pound best fighter in the world for a decade.

“I always said that with the right motivation and focus I can still be Superman. I saw it in the gym leading up to the fight and Tito Trinidad and everybody else saw it on Saturday night at the Garden. Like I said, line ‘em up and I’ll knock them down.”

    Joke, absolute joke.

If it wouldn't be such a waste of time it would be great to see Pavlik put him to sleep.

he is blinding himself, and boxing fans who fall for it..

beating trinidad by a DECISION, who hadnt fought in almost 3 years and was almost 20lbs above his own weight, and took two tries to even make the weight... who he was bigger, faster, stronger, and more powerful then,

and all of a sudden hes superman again...

    sorry, aint buying it.

it was a good fight and a decent win... but i wish people could leave it at that.

Roy is lying to himself... and i think he would be wise to remember that he said there would be something wrong with him if tito made it the distance.

I would like to see Roy fight Miranda. I think that would be a very good measuring stick as to where he is at.

NOt a bad idea, or maybe Lacy. Even Manfredo would be alright by me.

Roy has said some dumb ****, but this takes the cake "...even Delahoya at 156lbs...." :patsch Roy at 156? :rofl

  7. Whatever Roy:huh:nut The fight last week wasn't even very good:-( Roy was playing around to much, and both guy's wern't throwing enough punches, Tito was coming off a 3 year layoff, 35yrs old and over-weight who honestly thought he could win:huh
    Pavlik would knock Jones cold..:dead

As long as Jones keeps fighting third-rate light heavies and retired and bloated welterweights he will be 'Superman'. Once Jones fights a top Light heavy or top Supermiddle 'Superman' will be finished.

Roy always talks that talk. Just not sure how far he can still walk. He does have flashes of the old Roy, but instead of 3 minutes every round, it is only for about 20 seconds at a time. That is simply age. Any in shape pressure fighter would still be a bad match for him right now.

Roy would call out your Grandmother and Father if you keep listening to him. He'll do and say anything to get back into the spot-light.

I think the secret in boxing and most boxers are figuring this out: Cement your legacy by fighting a ton of nobodies. Win or lose, fight the big names and cash out at an old age.

Whats he really done since losing to Tarver? - not much if you ask me.
When Taylor loses to Pavlik again maybe he can restore some pride by beating RJJ
