Disappointing music. Would have preferred Rumsfeld singing the title to the tune of "More Than a Woman". Any way you can edit this?

Even Lomachenko seems ordinary when you see what Roy was doing in his pomp. Superman.

 I might release a B version so long as Rummy doesn't sue me for copyright infringement.

Very grateful for this video. I truly believe Roy Jones Jr was TBE.
I would personally say a sizeable portion of boxing that he was accustomed to doing was centered around his athletic qualities but he had safeguarded it with intricate boxing skill.
You take away his athleticism, you take away his platform where he used to express such fine, fluid skill like that you mentioned in the video. We're consequently left with a boxer without his greatest sword.
People don't recognise the nuances you pointed out so see him as just 'supremely' athletic in a way that sets some kind of superman athleticism benchmark.

I really enjoyed watching the timing of his jabs on Ruiz. Jones reads the rhythm of his opponents body movement (Ruiz) for the jab, and the span of their movement very well (Toney). Jones just can read the moment of the initial shifting of Ruiz's weight onto the front foot. Jab.

I liken it somewhat to Rigondeaux trialling being aggressive - it just went wrong, that's not to say Rigo isn't amazing and supremely skilled at what he does best (defensive pot-shotting - hehe - in punching range).

Might not see something like him for a while. Beside amazing athletic ability, his boxing IQ is off the chart. Also need to point out that he is a light heavy. It's easier for smaller guys to be flashy and fast. Superman indeed.

I do wonder how he'd have fared in his prime without the assistance of being 6 times over the normal testosterone level!

Hasn't that tattooed journeyman in your avatar been popped for PEDs before?

Glad you appreciated it. I think you described it well, his skills were tailored to his abilities. Which is what every boxer should do.

Great points on reading their body movements too. He was so perceptive

Youve been my boy for years Bogo, but lately one of us has been going off the tracks

Theres no way Ward beat Kovalev, and now you're creating a thread about a career steroid cheat?

There is clearly a way Ward beat Kovalev. 7 rounds I'll argue with anyone if they post their scorecard.

And Roy using an over the counter steroid (against an opponent also on steroids) really has little to do with how skilled he was. There's a high presumption that all elite level athletes are using something, so it's kind of useless to get tripped up on that and pretend great fighters didn't exist because of that. Pacquiao refused testing, Mayweather used a suspicious IV, Marquez works with a past steroid dealer, Mosley got caught, De La Hoya has rumors surrounding him, on and on. Roy is one of the greatest to ever live, this video highlights his skills.

If there has been a better sight in boxing than Roy in full flight I'm yet to see it.
