Don't get it twisted though, Roy worked hard to be able to do that ****. Mom's friend went to school with him from elementary all the way to high school and said that man's dad was always on his ass training... even when he was little
I Co-sign. Second and Third that one. Sugar Ray Robinson was and still is the most talented fighter of all times bar none!!! No one will ever emulate the greatest fighter ever. Sugar Ray Robinson will always be the standard on judging a great boxers career. Robinson was very fast! Robinson hit very hard and even killed an opponent with one punch. Ray Robinson had a very good chin. Ray Robinson had great stamina. Sugar Ray Robinson outboxed boxers, outpunched punchers. Sugar Ray Robinson outbrawled brawlers. He did it all. Body puncher, combination puncher, cut the ring in half. Outcountedpunched counterpunchers. I can go on and on about the greatest fighter ever; but you get the point. He did it all.
your an idiot. He could have fought better fighters: very true. But he still fought the recognized contenders and champions. And hes even more daring now willing to fight better oposition.
Roy Jones is my favourite fighter of all time bar none also. I also think he was the most talented ever in terms of his skills and ability - he edges Robinson in that department. But I don't think anyone will ever eclipse the *accomplishments* of Sugar Ray Robinson in the ring - he will always be the yardstick for the ATGs to be judged against.
Name the cap drivers in that vid and explain what their records were at the time of the fight and what they accomplished afterwards. The only guy that made RJJ look bad that he fought in his prime that was ridiculous was that NYC cop, he is in the video. That was the only fighter though that was actually that bad -- and the one guy from Australia, that kelly guy. Most of those guys were either recognized champions (or belt holders who), became champions afterwards, or had been champions.
Cab drivers? I saw respected fighters in the vid like Vinnie Paz, Richard Hall, Felix Trinidad, Bernard Hopkins, James Toney, etc. etc. Roy Jones was Superman. He was Jesus with boxing gloves. Damn right he was gifted and then some.
Calzaghe would've gotten a boxing lesson from James Toney. Simple! He would've gotten beaten by a prime Hopkins. Ruiz wouldn't even feel one of Joe's slaps. As to all the other guys Roy fought, it's debatable. Joe was a great fighter, no doubt. Sure his resume is spotty at points.. but he a all of famer... just not in the same league as Roy! Then again, no one is.
Probably the most talented in athletic ability with the potential to be THE greatest of all time imo. I wish he defended the HW title instead if goin back down
B-HOP baby! he's gonna own that ass. Country roy is gonna have to drink his KFC from a straw after next year.
the most gifted athletically, not "boxer" theres a big difference, Roy was just a phenom athlete and i'm convinced would've succeeded in almost any sport he took up as a youngster, (thank God he chose boxing) Roy never learned the fundamentals like a Bernard Hopkins for example who had no choice but to...Roy's strength eventually became his weakness because once he lost all that freak speed and athleticism he had no fundamentals and foundations to fall back on as he relied on the speed to bail him out all the time. What hurt him even more and brought on his downfall quicker was going on that heavyweight adventure when he did at much a advanced age you can't put all that muscle on and then to make it worse and convine the impact he strips that muscle and goes back to light heavyweight in such a short space of time when he should've had a couple years to recoup and readjust to the weight.
