Calzaghe was the same. Did you know he even tried to back out of the Jeff Lacey fight claiming "injury" but Enzo kicked his ass & MADE him fight

Roy was a good fighter but the excuses made for him for losing to Tarver are ****. I don't buy that he had a sharp decline because of the weight loss. He had time to recover because he was actually KO'd in the second fight.

What kind of human being suffers damage for life for losing muscle? Bull****. He got battered by Tarver in the first fight and KTFO in the second one, which made him lose confidence. With his style, and of course, some decline of his abilities due to age, that was devastating. He looked terrible vs Johnson, he had lost his confidence.

 

Could of sworn Jones beat up an aged Nigel Benn?so one sided was it that even a young Benn would not of coped with the speed of Roy.

 

To what extent PEDs had to do with it we shall never know,strange how some like Tyson and Jones have such a short shelf life compared to others though?

His record is a little padded no doubt but it's not as bad as some suggest he did fight Toney and Hopkins that's not exactly bad lol.

Problems emerged after HBO guaranteed RJJ 5 mill per fight with little stipulation on who he had to fight in regards to quality of opponent. It's human nature for people to choose the path of least resistance, not everyone can be a Pac or a Holyfield and look to walk into the fire whenever possible. Plus it over inflated RJJ's sense of self worth so when the big fights came to be negotiated there simply wasn't the money there to make the fights.

 

Another interesting fact is Roy Jones never finished a meal. He always left something on his plate. Rumour was he was so full of Peds he couldnt possibly eat another thing. Not even a wafer thin mint chocolate.

 

Jones wanted no part of Calzaghe,thay should have faced each other way back when than thay did.Jones also pulled out of fighting Calzaghe don't forget this.Hopkins v Joe I never forget was holding his nuts & being a baby in the ring,well that did not wash with Joe cortez.
