RJJ; probably one of the top 3 most gifted fighters in the history of game. Hand speed, reflexes.

Yet, his negotiations, deals with HBO proved fatal to his career. Hopkins & PBF made calculating decisions, that turned into millions per fight. Their negotiating paid off. Roy's didn't and he has no one to blame.

Every post here crapping on him is legit. Every fight he didn't have has an excuse..... and at some point that just isn't excusable.

Side note- Check John Skully's take on Gman vs RJJ in his 3rd attempt to become a 3 time GG champ. True it was amateur, but it gave a glimpse of how great Roy could be when forced to rise to the occasion.

Short read, but great. I heard this story in person from him.

Start any thread on Roy Jones and you're guaranteed at least 5 pages. Does anybody remember how pages the Michalczewski and Jones page went?

Every post crapping on him in this thread isn't legit.

If you want to determine what is or isn't an excuse, then do some research like I have.

There's a huge difference between excuses and factors.

How in the world did RJJ duck a rematch w/ Hopkins when Hopkins was the one pricing himself out?

    Bingo.

Mark Taffet of HBO is on record stating that Roy would have made $8m and Bernard would have made $6m.

This was conducted behind closed doors along with Roy's advisors.

Bernard is also on record confirming this, as well as stating that it was either $10m or no fight.

Roy already held a win over him, and he'd have had to have dropped weight in order to have made the proposed C-W of 168 pounds.

Before the offer of $6m, Bernard's biggest purse was $2.5m against Tito, the previous year in 2001.

After refusing the offer of $6m, Bernard took a year out of the ring before coming back and fighting Morrade Hakkar for $1.2m.

You have zero knowledge of the subject.

Roy had already beaten him once with an injured hand.

If Roy had really thought that, then why did he agree to drop down to 168 for a C-W, and why did he give HBO and his handlers the green light to negotiate with Hopkins??

Regarding Tarver, he thought that Roy was making an excuse with his claims of struggling due to the weight loss. Yet 2 years later after losing to Hopkins, Tarver was telling the world how he was devoid of energy in the ring and that he must have been poisoned.

I don't think RJJ ducked Jackson or Benn although they were both very dangerous but he didn't want any of McClellan.

Dude...cut that "Jones knew..." crap out. No one believes that **** when it's posted by fans.

Jones wanted a rematch after Hops beat ODLH. Hopkins was the one pricing himself out of the fight. And THAT is a fact. Hopkins thought he was some cash cow after beating DLH.
