Roy jones Jr on 8 fight win streak, 5 by K.O

You don't go through 5 weight classes of pro boxing and well into your 30's before being knocked out with no chin.. It makes no sense. Pro boxers can punch. I am not sure if you know this but punch resistance CAN fade.. It is pretty much a proven fact.

 

How about we start with the fact that you started this whole thing by saying that Jones never did anything but fight part time bums.

When I listed all the top level fighters he fought, you obfuscated and said that he had been beaten by some.

How about we deal with that first before we move on?

Do you now admit that you were wrong to claim that he had never fought top fighters and had always fought part time bums?

I read an interesting article a while back that was written by a doctor.. It explains how taking a beating while dehydrated can permanently damage your ability to take a punch..

I think its possible the punches he took in Tarver I while dehydrated did damage to his punch resistance.. He has taken harder shots than some of the ones he was knocked out with.

Now I am not saying by any means Roy had an iron chin, but if it was glass it would have been exposed vs. Toney when he took a similar shot that knocked Michael Nunn out.

We could all have a great debate if he was open to it, but he's just not capable.

Tarver was brilliant when he knocked Jones out one punch. He was a badass that night. But later on he would ran into a fighter who even more brilliant than him and that guy was the "executioner" Bernard Hopkins.

Hopkins put on one of the most brilliant boxing displays of the last 15 years taking Jones conqueror Tarver to school and completely dismantling him in a one sided masterclass, he managed to do in one fight what Jones couldnt do in three and that was beat Tarver without the slightest controversy.

Years before that he did the same to another fighter who kocked Jones out in glenn Johnson putting on what was probably his most impressive display taking Johnson apart.

No wonder Jones ducked Bernard for years he knew he dodged a bullet in their first fight where he faced a green still developing Hopkins and while he beat him he left nobody impressed that night not even his cheerleaders at HBO. Hopkins went on to break the record for MW tiltle defenses and reached the number one spot in the pound for pound rankings but as loud as he was asking Jones numerous times for a rematch, it was to no avail ,Reluctant Roy who was a facing a boycott from fans and media continued to fight scrub after scrub all the while ignoring the challenge of the "Executioner".

This has to go down in history as one of the biggest ducks ever.

His career was already set when he moved up to HW and won. First man in 106 years to go from 175 to HW. But yeah he messed himself up moving back down to 175lbs from HW which he weighed 200lbs during his HW fight within 3-6 months at 36 years of age when he faced Tarver. Check the documentary I posted called Sweet Science. The guy who helped Roy bulk up, Mackie Shiltstone told Roy he should of stayed at HW and it wasn't a good idea for him to move back down at that age in short period time like that.

Here's an interview that I posted on this site a few times stating the facts about the damage weight lost can do from Mackie Shilstone who has also worked with Michael Spinks and Benard Hopkins as well. As of late It seems factual logic gets overlooked nowadays.

This is the documentary that was made when Jones was P4P King moving up to HW to face John Ruiz. Jones trained to hard to bulk up with Mackie Shilstone. The same trainer that helped bulk up Michael Spinks to fight at HW.

• Jones was getting smashed by his HW sparring partner when he first started sparring.
• Jones was really 200lbs at the initial weigh-in but the Dr. messed up and weighed him in 193. Come fight night RJJ was 199lbs when he was re-weighed.
• RJJ being the first man in 100 years to win titles from LHW to HW.
• RJJ speaking about his Dad beating him and saying how he didn't have a childhood.
• He made history but he also ruined himself moving back down in weight in that short time frame at that age
