One quote bothered me. "I'm not sure that Pacquiao has a big punch..." Then said, "I am sure that Mayweather has that big punch." ....really? And by the way he was speaking, I felt he was insinuating Mayweather will try to walk Pacquiao down. The biggest trick Pacquiao has pulled after his KO is making opponents believe he no longer hits hard and has a weak chin. Dangerous, dangerous fight for Floyd Mayweather if he goes in there planning to knock Pacquiao out. Max Kellerman, "Many guys nowadays, after the Marquez KO, think that they can just go in there with Manny and knock him out. Some guys maybe.... Algieri is not one of them." I don't think Mayweather is either. Love him and I know his power is underrated, but I can't believe for the life of me that it is comparable to the bombs of Marquez, Cotto, Margarito that Pacquiao's chin have taken and taken well. I think a gameplan on knocking Pacman out, that all opponents after Pac's KO have tried, is FATAL. I believe Mayweather needs to focus on boxing and counterpunching from the outside.
Doesn't that contradict what he said earlier about pac being a volume piwer puncher? Who did he pick? Did he say the fight will be competitive? I'm in manila right now so I don't have access to first take.
He in summary said Mayweather can only win by knockout, and if there's a decision then it'll go to Manny. But I think he believes it's more likely that Mayweather KO's Pacquiao than the fight going to scorecards. He thinks Mayweather can hit HARD.
If floyd slugs it out with manny he will lose PERIOD! The same way if manny tries to out box floyd he will lose badly.
May is going to destroy that boy. I see a TKO9. He will walk Manny down and beat him to the body bad.
Real talk I think unless its a complete wipeout for Mayweather if the fight goes to a decision they'll rob Floyd for the rematch money. For all the talk Pacquiao has more bad decisions go his way in Vegas than Floyd, look at the scores for Hoya(won 3rds got an SD),Canelo(won IMO 4rds got a MD),& Maidana I(was actually close got a MD). The whole world it seems wants Floyd to lose and Manny has a big enough name that he can get a robbery decision over Floyd.
That's a good call right there and I think that Mayweather is aware of that. They are definitely gonna try and give it to Pac. That why Mayweather is intent on making it a dominate win or a knockout. He knows they wanna give it to Pac, just to spite him. Holyfield said the same thing and Roy Jones is basically saying it too.
The only time I've ever seen him truly fatigued, ever, was Morales 1. Though, if Mayweather is super successful with body shots, that could do the trick. He would just have to be careful since Manny could counter with a right hook. I've also seen him use the pull-counter when people body shot from a distance as well.
Roy Jones was on Colin Cowherd today, too. Jones said the hardest punch he ever landed was against Art Serwano. He said he felt it all through his body. Cowherd actually was roommates in college and very close friends with the late referee Mitch Halpern, lived in Vegas after college and so Cowherd was around boxing a lot in the late 80s and 90s (because his friend was reffing so many top fights). He said ESPN is going to have a huge stage set up over the pool at the hotel where the Floyd-Pac fight is taking place and the station is going to be broadcasting there live during the week leading up to the fight.
