Roy and Pacquiao were both once in a lifetime talents who accomplished things in boxing no one had ever done before, and no one might ever do again.

But, who was more talented between the two?

Pacquaio for me. Roy Jones obviously a legend was very reliant on his pace. We saw as he got older that when he lost his speed he was a very average fighter with a Khan chin. Thinking about this again Pac was levels above Roy.

I would agree with the fact that Pacquiao is more talented. First off, I want to preface this by saying both men are once in a lifetime talents. However, the reason why Pacquiao is more talented is that Pacquiao definitely challenged himself more and defeated more P4P fighters in spectacular ways. Jones is great too but after he faced HoFer Toney, Jones didn't really face a fighter of Toney's caliber again but was still astonishing.

Pacquiao had the greater career but at their very peaks Roy Jones was a more dominant fighter

There were no other fighters of Toneys calibre in the world but Toney they were p4p #1 and #2 at the time. You left out the part where went on to humiliate Virgil Hill and looked completely untouchable against a legitimate heavyweight champion

Roy Jones was more talented, but Manny Pacquiao was the much better fighter and did far more with a lot less.

Roy at his peak was a once in a life time fighter,no disrespect to Manny but RJJ has to be the choice

Both incredibly talented fighters but in different ways.

RJJ's combination of speed and power was exceptional, his reflexes practically supernatural, he could do things in the ring that no other fighter could. Offensively and also defensively he was pretty much untouchable in his prime.

Pac too had amazing speed and power but I don't think it was on the level of RJJ''s. Just a fraction less and his reflexes were not as good as Roy's. But Pacquiao was exceptional in other ways. His foot speed was insane, he could cut the distance and be on you before you knew it, it is in part what made him such a frightening offensive fighter.

But the thing that really always stood out for me with Pac is his ability to rapidly alter his foot position when throwing punches. A normal fighter when throwing a big combination usually after a few punches they either lose balance or have to take power off their shots. Not with Pac he could make these insanely fast adjustments with his feet and so throw big combos with immense speed and power, it's what made him such an insane combination puncher. I've not seen any other fighter be able to do this not even Loma with his dancing feet.

Both very special fighters with unique abilities. You could make an argument for both but overall Pac was the better fighter, regardless of who was more talented. Because along with that talent Pac had other attributes that made him greater. The self belief and desire to fight the best, the near endless stamina along with a ferocious work rate all along with his natural ability made him far greater.

Roy was more spectacular and visually pleasing.

I will say that Roy has underrated boxing ability. You don't get to the Olympic final and win multiple titles by not having a good boxing brain.

Manny is the biggest legend of the last 35 years. 8 world titles will NEVER be matched.

James Toney was fat asf for that fight and fat while having to cut weight and weigh in, he also lost to a bum in montell griffin his next fight. Hill had also just gone through a grueling 12 round fight with dariuz his previous fight and lost his title and he moved up to CW afterwards

I don't take anyone seriously who references Toneys loss to Griffin. It was highway robbery, and anyone familiar with the fight knows it. regardless griffin was far from a bum. that's just an asinine statement all the way around. Toney was indeed out of shape against Jones, but he beat alot fighters out of shape. It's still an amazing win
