this is the link i got from boxing scene http://***********.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210239 i've been told by a member here(imdazed), that Roy's plan is to fight off the ropes so he doesn't have to use his legs. Good idea or bad idea? Roy has always done the worst against the ropes.(Tarver I is a good example, he was better in the middle of the ring) So that would seem to be a bad idea. However now that hes even older, maybe its a good idea. If he fights off the ropes effectively maybe thats his best chance. Let Calzaghe be the aggressor while Roy lays against the ropes and throws counters... Maybe thats a better idea than trying to box Calzaghe in the middle of the ring
The blueprint to beating Calzaghe is a mixture of what Kessler and Hopkins brought to the show Joe isn't prepared to chase people around the ring very often, so trying to be like Ali vs Foreman isn't the way Switch tactics every two rounds - toe to toe, back foot, 1-2, potshot DO - use the right hand DON'T - try to outwork Calzaghe Follow the above pointers and you won't be far off
if roy goes to the ropes he will LOSE BADLEY probs late TKO i said it before he has not got the speed in the reflex and footspeed department now (slower lateral and head movement) as he has aged he has lost this at the top level, so a hight output puncher with a top workrate like joe will have a feild day with him up on the ropes. I dont know what tactic he should go for exactly but beeston brawler's tactic seems deacent mix it up alot, keep joe thinking Roy still has his handspeed so he could do with 1,2 then potshotting
no staying against the ropes automatically gives Joe a massive advantage. If Joe was asked the ideal place for Roy to be in this fight, he would for sure say on the ropes.
no if you asked joe where the ideal place for roy to be in this fight he would say 10 years past his prime.
I doubt he is gonna do that. SInce Rj has been fighting I never heard of him tell his fight plan be4 a fight. SO i doubt he will do that
