Roy Jones Jr. says Floyd Mayweather wants no part of Manny Pacquiao

I forgot about whatever Roy and B-Hop were talking about around 2001-2002. I know B-Hop wanted more cash and Roy was basically down talking him. Either way, you can't duck someone that is fighting at a heavier weight than you. Its better to critisize Hopkins for calling out Welter and Junior Middleweights.

 

You know, I was cool with the fight not happening because Roy already showed his superiority, and he was at a higher weight.

It wasn't until I saw Hopkins was ducking when Roy got KO'd, then what does Hopkins do? FInally moves up

 

i don't think there resumes are that much far apart...

but take two best wins away from each fighters resume and i think you will see ONE clearly has the edge.

Both resume's are really good but Roy Jones does have the better one at this point.

Jones Jr. was lightning from MW thru LHW, literally no one came close to his talent, or even stood a chance against him in his prime. Roy's ATG far outweigh's that of Floyd and (imo) Manny, although I believe Pacquiao is closer to Roy then Floyd for his willingness to challenge himself (Morales & Marquez both 3 times and DLH) If you remember before the Oscar fight, nobody including Ring Mag gave Manny much of a chance against the naturally bigger and stronger DLH. His dominance over Oscar, is what turned Pacquiao into a superstar.

 

This is also a correct statement. Hill and Toney will be in the HOF one day, I very much doubt the same can be said for Corrales or Castillo. They might be who knows, however Toney and Hill are clearly a cut above. Imo, I consider James Toney from his MW & SMW days one of the ATG's.

That guys blind bias towards Floyd is rather annoying. I don't even respond or read his posts anymore, becuase I know I'm not going to agree with him and there's no use in debating him. It's like finding yourself in a argument with a 7 year old.

Very good post, and very accurate.

 

Floyd depends on athleticism too....so does Bernard, but Bernard is such a dirty and classless fighter, he can get away with it against incomplete guys like Pavlik or Pascal.

 

Talk boxing for once, man, it'll refresh you. Or kill yourself. Either/or.
