After reading about ESPN hiring Hopkins as an analyst on the main page, it reminded me about RRJ. During the build up to the Calzaghe fight, I'm sure I read on here that RRJ would be joining the Setanta boxing team as a pundit or a commentator? Anyone know if this is still happening?
I definitely remember Paul Dempsey saying something along those lines during or after the Jones/Calzaghe setanta press conference.
:rofl He sounds like he has been smoking loads of grass! :rasta I am sure I remember dempsey saying something about that. Can't see it to be honest though. He is a big shot promoter now isn't he? :deal
I think Setanta would be better off paying someone like Vitali or Wlad as at least you can understand what they say.
jones jnr was a really good co commentator for hbo. beetson your the first to moan about paying for setanta, sky box office, but want to pay roy jones jnrs wages lol
As big a fan as i am of Roy Jones, i dont want to see him commentating or analysing .. Ive got fights were hes talking of himself in the 3rd person the whole time. He talks about the fighters and then adds 'If that was Roy' or 'Roy would have done this' .. Its so annoying, give me Nelson, Mcguigan, and Watt anytime. Lets get Reg Gutteridge out of retirement for his thoughts on fights, that would be fantastic
Ray Leonard was a great co-commentator, not that Setanta could get him, im just talking about former fighters that are good at analysing the action
Jones Jr is great at analysing the action but you really do have to listen hard to understand what he's saying, he has such a weird dialect and speaks so fast that you miss most of it.
