at UFC 100, but judging from facial expressions, Silva didn’t look too interested with the rematch when White mentioned it Saturday night. The Brazilian had joked and teased throughout the postfight news conference; when Henderson was mentioned, Silva wasn’t grinning. He’d rather box Roy Jones Jr., who was reportedly in the audience at UFC 101.

White reiterated that he doesn’t like the Jones Jr. idea.

“I respect boxing,” he said, careful to express his respect for Jones Jr. as well. “I respect the sport of boxing. … I don’t know what would happen if Anderson Silva went in to box Roy Jones Jr. I just don’t see the point. This is MMA; this is what we do.”

Roy Jones would spark this mother****er out. And Roy Jones is barely a top10 LHW at this point.

    Dana, she knows it

Thats funny I just read an article about yesterdays fight and it says "Anderson Silva pulled a move from Muhammad Ali’s playbook when he landed a hard shot while going backward to knock out Forrest Griffin in a dramatic light heavyweight bout at UFC 101". LoL I dont know why they had to ad Ali in that sentance but I would love to see RJJ spark Silva the **** out.

It was the anchor punch that Ali used to knock out Sonny Liston in their rematch. Exact same punch that Silva used at the end where he pulled his right up from his waist and then shot it out straight so the opponent walked right into it jaw first.

I would love to see these two fight in a two fight series first boxing then muay thai or MMA.

The rubber match could be a bare knuckle street brawl Kimbo style.

If he could do it in an MMA fight yes, in a boxing match it's expected...

Actually MMA has nothing to lose in this fight. Boxing does big time.

    Yes and no.

RJJ is not top 10 in his division anymore. Hes basically a non-factor and this fight probably wont be made in the near future. So RJJ is basically getting older and older by the minute. And at his age, he cant really afford to wait any longer and have his physical attributes diminish even further.

Silva beating RJJ would be a great accomplishment despite RJJ's age and irrelevancy in his career.

However, if Silva gets sparked quickly and in embarassing fashion this DEFINITELY looks bad on MMA and on Silva. Like it or not, Silva beat Griffin last night because of boxing. And Griffin is a former LHW champion who has beaten and outstruck a majority of good LHW's. Rampage and Evans being the two that come to mind.

If old man RJJ beats Silva badly, then it just reinforces what we already know, MMA striking isnt very good.

Silva has already been stopped in a boxing match by a guy who isnt on the level of a shot Roy Jones.

  15. This fight won't happen. Jones already has enough on his plate.
