Roy Jones Jr. was undefeated from 1989 to 1997 where he "lost" via DQ to montell griffin, witch he knocked out in round 1 in their rematch 5 month later, then again he won all his fights until 2004,where he lost to Antonio Tarver. But in his prime,he showed things and skills i havent seen since then.If it wasnt for that DQ he would have been undefeated for 15 years!!!
But if we only talk TALENT,where do you rank him if we say 30 years back.
He was a Beast at 168...
I really didnt liked his personalety when he was at his best, but when i watch him as a commentator for HBO,i think he seems to be a decent guy.
BUT where do you rank him,and does he get the credit he deserves??

He doesn't get the credit he deserves, he really was a once in a lifetime guy.
Athletic gifts that might never be matched.
He's fought on for too long, which will taint the memory of RJJ.

There are some other talented guys out there like Floyd and Nas, but he really was amazing. To have his speed and power at a Light Heavy weight, is amazing.

I would say most athletically talented fighter but not talent as far as pure skill

Look at every legend and then start comparing them to Jones ..How many of them had both the power and the speed Jones had ..Not many thats what seprated Jones from the rest of the pact as far as talent ..

Easily. A once in a life time athlete. Super human hand speed and reflexes and great power from 160-168.

Yes he fought for too long, and what a shame,But i still think he deserves much more credit for what he was and did, when he was in his prime.A really once in a lifetime fighter as someone mentioned.:good

jones was athletically brilliant but we know that he was a proven banned anabolic steroid drugs cheat and that drug cheats never do this just once, jones was probably doing this on a similar level to the likes of toney and mosley.

you then look at jones and realise that he couldn't fight in adversity and couldn't adapt to plan B in fights when plan A wasn't working, and you then realise that there is huge chunks of his armour missing compared to real ATG's.

you then look at his jaw - to quote professor I C Chins "Its a ****ing disgrace".

    Ridiculous athletic talent.

I honestly think when he was on his A-game he was probably up there amongst the best athletes in the world.
